Happy June!

Greetings from your IMESD coaches! As we approach the end of another productive school year, it's time to reflect on our accomplishments, recharge our professional batteries, and prepare for the upcoming year. In this newsletter, we have three key topics to discuss: requesting input for next year's meetings and trainings, surviving the last few days of the school year, and sharing tips for summer professional development.

Request for Input:

We believe in the power of collective wisdom, and your input is invaluable in shaping our learning community. We want to ensure that our meetings and trainings align with your needs, address your challenges, and foster professional growth. Please take a few moments to share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions for next year's professional development opportunities in the survey below. Your input will guide us in designing meaningful and impactful learning experiences.

Surviving the Last Few Days of the School Year:

The final days of the school year can be both exciting and hectic. Here are some strategies to help you navigate this busy time:

  • Celebrate achievements: Take time to acknowledge the accomplishments of your teachers and students. Celebrate their growth and contributions throughout the year.
  • Support self-care: Encourage your colleagues to prioritize self-care. Remind them to find moments of relaxation and recharge to end the year on a positive note.
  • Reflect on lessons learned: Encourage teachers to reflect on their successes and challenges from the year. Facilitate discussions that allow them to learn from their experiences and set intentions for the future.
  • Plan for transition: Help teachers prepare for the upcoming year by facilitating discussions about classroom organization, curriculum planning, and professional development needs.

Summer PD:

The summer break provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth and rejuvenation. Whether you plan to attend conferences, engage in online courses, read professional literature, or explore new resources, we encourage you to make the most of this time. Here are a few tips to enhance your summer professional development:

  • Set goals: Identify specific areas you want to focus on and set measurable goals. This will help you stay focused and make the most of your time.
  • Diversify your learning: Explore a mix of resources such as books, podcasts, webinars, and online communities to gain a broader perspective and discover innovative practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues: Connect with fellow coaches, educators, and professionals in your field to exchange ideas, share resources, and engage in meaningful conversations.
  • Reflect and apply: Take time to reflect on what you learn and consider how it can be applied to your coaching practice. Keep a journal or use a digital platform to capture your thoughts and ideas.

Your expertise and contributions are instrumental in making our coaching network thrive. We look forward to your input, hearing about your summer professional development experiences, and sharing strategies for successfully wrapping up the school year.

Wishing you a rejuvenating summer and looking forward to reconnecting next school year!

Warmest Regards,

Ayla, Beth, & Jennifer

Drive

Drive, by Daniel H. Pink, is about motivation. From Pink's website: "Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money—the carrot-and-stick approach. That’s a mistake, says Daniel H. Pink. In this provocative and persuasive new book, he asserts that the secret to high performance and satisfaction-at work, at school, and at home—is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world."
