Lambs LedgerMay 2023

Message from the Principal, Jamie McCarthy

We are in our last month of the year! Now is the time for our students to show us how much they have learned. It has been such a joy to be in the classrooms and watch our students mature academically and socially. This time of year can be overwhelming with the added stress of end of the year assessments. I like to focus on the reason why we need to administer them. As educators, we need to know where students are performing so we can make a plan to fill in the gaps or accelerate learning. Of course we encourage students to try their best and give 100% so we get the most accurate results possible. However, we are not naïve to the challenges we are putting them though. We have some really fun motivators in place and will find the balance of structure and fun.

As this year comes to a conclusion, I want to recognize your role as parents in your child's education. You are your child's first teacher and we are fortunate to be able to partner with you to engage them as they grow. There are many ways in which you can help set your child up for success; communicate with your teacher, foster healthy attendance habits, and read! We are always here to lend a guiding hand or assist in any way. We want parents to be our partners, because we know that it takes everyone working together to develop successful, happy children. We are here for you! While you have them this summer, please encourage your child to read even if it's below their level. Continuing to grow their vocabulary and learn to love learning will help them in their educational journey. In elementary school, we are building the foundation, let's make it as strong as we can!

Thank you for supporting our school as we strive to make it better and better every day!
