Principal's Notes
IMPORTANT APP INFO - Parents, we are hearing about an app called Cover Star recently that is marketed as a safer Tik Tok for kids. However, we've seen a few of the videos and are concerned that students are giving their personal information about their classmates' names, teacher names, school, town, and more while making "Get Ready With Me" videos and other content. It would be a good time to check your child's device to see if they have this app, what they are posting, and to make sure their profiles are private, review who is following them, and discuss appropriate/safe social media use.
It is a very busy building on Monday! We had screenings for incoming kindergartners in the library, Delilah the Whale visiting the current kindergarten students in the gym, grade 3 on a field trip to Jacob’s Farm, the 4th grade Biography Fair, and the 5th grade band concert! That all happened in just one day! The rest of the week was a bit quieter with the 5th grade Boston Trolley Tour on Wednesday, the 4th grade Tent Day on Thursday, the 5th Grade Celebration with lots of fun and dancing, and the Stay and Play coming up this afternoon!
As we wrap up another wonderful school year with this last edition of the Cole Miners' Dig, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our families for your tremendous support. What a remarkable year of growth and discovery it has been! We've watched your children blossom into confident, curious learners who tackle challenges with determination and celebrate each other's successes with genuine joy. Your partnership, from helping with homework to volunteering for activities, has been invaluable in creating an amazing community of learners. As summer vacation begins, we wish all our families a summer filled with rest, adventure, and precious memories together. Thank you for trusting us with your amazing children! We'll see you back on the first day of school on Tuesday, September 2nd for grades 1-5!
Class placements for the 2025-2026 school year are now finalized. Students will have the exciting opportunity to meet their new teacher and classmates during Move Up Day on Tuesday, June 17th. To ensure a smooth start to the school year, no placement changes will be made after this date. We encourage families to prepare children for the possibility that they may have a different teacher or classroom friends than they expected. Each new school year brings wonderful opportunities to form new friendships, learn from different teaching styles, and grow as learners. This transition is an excellent chance to help your child develop resilience and flexibility—valuable life skills that will serve them well throughout their educational journey.
Report Cards for the final trimester will be available on Aspen on Tuesday, June 17th at the end of the school day. You will also be able to see the results of the spring screenings in Aspen. Please see the screening letter below.
Magnificent Meerkats
This week we recognized all of the Student Government Representatives for helping Cole School become a certified Kindness School. We also recognized students for being leaders in the classroom, for working to meet their academic goals, and for helping others when needed. Lastly, we recognized our own Mr. Tarr for being a great teacher, Mrs. Hayman for her many smiles and great teaching, and Mrs. Stull for being generous with her time to help students.
Nurse's Nook
Just a reminder that your child has medication in the health office. Please make arrangements to pick up your child's medication before the end of the day on June 17, 2025.
If your child is going to have the same medication back in my office in the fall, please note that you will need to get a new medication order, Asthma Action Plan, or Allergy Action Plan for the 2025-2026 school year.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns. I can be reached via email at Jacqueline.Cregg@norwellschools.org or by phone at 781-659-8823 x1110
