Note from the Principal Note from the Principal

Memorial Day Weekend is here!! Always the unofficial start of summer, this weekend brings with it the excitement of the coming months, as well as the end of the school year, which, amazingly, is just around the corner!

Our upper-grade students did an amazing job on their NJSLA testing! They were prepared every day and tried their best, which is all that we ever ask! It is a long test and we are very proud of the hard work our students put in during the month of May!

Now, as we finish the remaining curriculum, we also have many fun upcoming events! One new event we have this year is called the Treps Marketplace! This is a new club where we are teaching our 5th graders how to become entrepreneurs and start their own real business!! Read below for more information, but please come support their new businesses at School #4 on Thursday, May 29th from 5-7pm!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!!

School #4 Treps Club

This year, School #4 started a new club called Treps, which is short for enTREPreneurs. In this club, the students learned all about how to open and run their own business, including how to fund, how to create a product or service, how to set a price point, how to work with overhead, and ultimately how to make a profit. They have been working hard on creating their own businesses! They will have a chance to sell their products at our TREPS marketplace, which will take place on May 29th from 5-7pm at the School #4 gym. Please consider coming to support our young entrepreneurs....everyone is invited, even if your child is not in the club!! Help us support our students by coming to this real-life experience!! This is a cash only event and our young business owners keep all of their profits!!

School #4 Receives Historic Preservation Award! School #4 Receives Historic Preservation Award!

You may have noticed the Post Ford Monument on River Drive across the street from Wawa. A few years ago, we learned that the monument was built in 1935 by the students of School #4! When we saw that is was falling apart, our school came together to raise funds to restore and improve the monument. So, we joined with the Garfield Rotary and the City of Garfield to raise money and fix the monument. We even found the flyer and agenda from the original ceremony in 1935 and used it to create a similar ceremony when our work was complete in 2022! A few months ago, we learned that the Bergen County Executive and Preservation Advisory Board granted us an award for our efforts! Congratulations to the students and staff of School #4, past and present!

Attendance Matters!! Attendance Matters!!

At School #4, we always aim to have high attendance! After last year, it is very important that we improve upon student attendance, which includes being on time to school! Although the school year seems long, there is so much that we have to cover each year and in every grade. Missing just a little bit of time can have a large impact on our student's academic and social success
