Grief Awareness & Poster Contest Announcement:

Children's Grief Awareness Day will be observed on Thursday, November 19th this year!

The Caring Place just announced their annual poster contest for the current school year! Contest details and an entry form are attached. Schools must submit their posters to the Highmark Caring Place by January 30, 2027. Interested students can reach out to Mrs. Chandra or Mrs. Forst.

Additionally, The Highmark Caring Place has openings in their peer support groups for grieving children and families at their Camp Hill Center. Their support groups are no-cost, not insurance-based, and available whether a loss is recent or has occurred some time ago. These groups provide peer support for both adults and children. At least one grieving child and one adult must attend, but additional family members can join as well.

Their next introductory group begins in December, so please call as soon as possible to register. You can contact the Caring Place by calling 866-613-4673 or contact them via website at https://highmarkcaringplace.com/cp2/contact.shtml

Mrs. Chandra will also be facilitating small group counseling (6-8 weeks) during school for students experiencing grief. If you feel that your student would benefit from participating in a small group for grief and loss, please reach out to Mrs. Chandra to inform her. This small group counseling opportunity requires a parent permission slip for participation. Thank you!

Class of 2027

I am thrilled to announce that a FREE, two-week adventure is coming to Camp Hill next summer (June 2027) through American Exchange Project! Spend: One week on a fully-funded trip to a town that’s completely different from Camp Hill. You might paddleboard off the coast of San Francisco, try the best of a Kansas barbeque, or ride alongside buffalo in Montana—all while making friends and staying with a local family. One week welcoming students from several different states here in Camp Hill (which is also fully-funded). We’ll create an itinerary together that’s made up of the best places to eat, explore, and hang out around the Harrisburg area, and when students arrive, you’ll join them for the experience. As Camp Hill’s Exchange Manager, I’ll be your point of contact over the next year about all things American Exchange Project and will lead Hometown Week over the summer.

Want to be part of American Exchange Project? Mr. Ziegler will be visiting Mr. White’s English classes on October 21 to do a short presentation and answer any questions. In the meantime, check out their website to further explore this option.

REMINDERS REMINDERS

Pacing Tips:

-Spend time working in the system each day.

-Spread out work in all classes, don’t leave the classes you like least for last!

-Keep track of your assignments submitted by using the notes app on your phone (a piece of paper also works).

-Every week, type/write out your classes.

-After you turn in a graded assignment, make a mark (or emoji) next to the class you submitted the assignment in.

-Do this each time you submit a new assignment.

-The day before your progress check, count your marks (or emojis) to make sure you hit your goal.

-Create a new sheet after each week’s meeting.

General Notes:

In eDynamic: Dropbox is where the assignments are submitted

In Harris: When completing a PDF document, make sure you are working off the copy that is saved to your computer!

-Save your changes regularly by clicking Download, Save, and Replace Existing File

Submitting a PDF: Work in Google (Docs, Slides, Sheets), and then turn your work into a PDF before submitting

-To turn into a PDF: Click File, then Download, then PDF

-Make sure you attach File, NOT Google Doc
