Academic letters are awarded in the fall of a student's 10th, 11th, and 12th grade year based on the previous year's academic work. Students must have a 90.00 cumulative average (without rounding) each semester to qualify to be recognized the following school year. The first year award is an academic letter, the second year award is an academic pin, and the third year award is an academic medal. For example, a sophomore could be recognized during the fall of their sophomore year based on their academic performance during their freshman year.

The deadline to be in the yearbook is fast approaching. If you are a senior and you want to appear in the yearbook, you must schedule your appointment with CADY before November 25! Go to CADY.com now to book your appointment or sign up for the event at Parkview.

Attention all juniors and seniors: Parkview Prom 2025 tickets are now available for you to purchase on GoFan. Prom will be May 3rd at Cobb Energy Centre Ballroom. You may buy a ticket for you and 1 guest. Please see Ms. Farrow in Room 15.215 if you have any questions.

Please remember we do not interrupt class time to deliver items to students that were left at home. We will not deliver items to students and we will not call into classrooms to have students pick up items. If you leave something for a student they will need to pick it up between classes. Thank you for your help supporting a consistent learning environment.

From the Parkview High School Assessment Office:

We are preparing for Fall semester final exams. Students should take all final exams during the scheduled time based on the calendar below. Students with an excused absence who miss a final exam prior to December 20th should arrange a time with their teacher for a make up opportunity.

It is very important that students attend school during final exams. Students that miss final exams must have an excused and approved absence.

Fall Final Exam Schedules:

• Tuesday, December 17th – 1st period
• Wednesday, December 18th – 4th period & 2nd period
• Thursday, December 19th – 5th period & 3rd period
• Friday, December 20th – 6th period & 7th period

Final Exams will be given online. Student must bring their GCPS issued Chromebook (charged) and a charger.

Please be sure to attend school for these testing days.

We would like to inform you about the upcoming 1st semester final exams schedule. Please take note of the following important dates and details:

December 17th:

• Students will take their 1st period final exam from 7:15 AM to 9:20 AM.

• After the exam, students will attend the rest of their classes, but the schedule will be modified.

• This is still a traditional school day, and we encourage parents to support students in preparing for their remaining finals.

December 18th-20th:

• We will follow a block schedule for final exams (two exams per day).

• Students will take all final exams during the scheduled times based on the exam schedule.

• Students will not be allowed to take any exams early.

• Students who miss their finals before December 20th should arrange with their teachers to make them up. After December 20th, students with excused or approved absences will need to schedule their final exam make ups in early January.

• Students will be released from school at 11:45 AM on these days. We appreciate families planning appointments for after this time.

Important Reminders:

• There will be no check-outs from December 18th-20th.

• Students who arrive late for exams will be admitted to class, but their exam time will remain as scheduled.

Georgia Gwinnett College is hosting an INSTANT DECISION DAY on Thursday, December 12 at 9am in the 3DE Collab Room (H 4.236). As an added bonus, there will be NO APPLICATION FEE.

To be considered for instant decision/admittance you must bring your Chromebook to the meeting AND sign-up to attend through your Advisement eClass page by Monday, December 9 at 10 am. A Pass is required to attend.

In November, GAfutures partners with the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia to offer college application fee waivers to students for Apply to College Month! Seniors if you are planning on applying to an in state school, now is the perfect time! Log into your GAfutures account for more information.

If you need a counselor recommendation for any college application due in January, you will need to submit your “Counselor Recommendation Request Form” along with your Senior Resume/Brag Sheet by Monday, December 2, 2024.

Senior Counseling Information

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery(ASVAB)is an optional aptitude career exploration test. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program can help you identify skills and abilities that will help you find your place- whether you plan a future in the military, college, or the workforce.

Although the Department of Defense administers the test, students are under NO OBLIGATION to the Military in any way.

Sign up through PHS Advisement eClass page no later than December 5 at 2pm. A Pass will be required.

This test is free.

Senior Dues can be paid through Scholastic Images. Scholastic Images will be on campus once a month starting August 19th for orders and questions.
