Thank you to everyone for all of their support this term. It’s been an exciting one with lots of trips, a successful Ofsted inspection, numerous visitors to school, concerts and obviously lots of hard work from the pupils. Thank you to everyone who came to visit their child’s class at the end of the day today. We hope it was a nice end to the term for them and for you.

A reminder that we break up today and return to school again on Tuesday 22nd April.

Attendance Attendance

This week's school attendance is 91%.

Whole school attendance so far this year is 95%.

Early Years/Key Stage 1 class of the week is 2M with 94.8% attendance!

Key Stage 2 class of the week is 4BY with 96% attendance - well done!

Once more, here is the link to the attendance page of the school website which has information on the Penalty Notice system. Ultimately, more than 2 penalty notices could result in the council taking you to court and a criminal record. We really do not want any of our families to have to go through this.

There were some absolutely amazing egg creations seen in school yesterday. We were all really impressed with how creative the pupils are! Below are a few of the entries - there are simply too many to put in the newsletter but you will find more images on our Facebook page. Winners were announced today in assembly.

I now know what I will be spending a day of the Easter holidays doing with my own children!

Our Reception classes put on a wonderful art gallery for parents and carers yesterday, inspired by the work of David Hockney. Just look at some of their wonderful paintings.

T &A Star Pupil of the Year - Well done Safa! T &A Star Pupil of the Year - Well done Safa!

zoom_out_map

We shared with you last week that Safa, one of our year five pupils, had been shortlisted by the T&A for the star pupil of the year award. Last night Safa, her family and some members of staff went to the award ceremony. It was a fantastic evening. We are pleased to report that Safa won the award and is now officially the T&A Education Awards star pupils! Reporting from the event will be in the T&A on 10th April. Well done Safa!

Well done Dom! Well done Dom!

We love to hear positive stories about our pupils linked to things they have taken part in outside of school. This week we received a lovely email from the Friends of Martin House children's hospice in Ilkley commending Dom, one of our Year 5 pupils, on his work. "Dom came along to help his mum with the hot chocolate bunny activity.Their table was extremely popular and very busy for the whole session and some great bunnies were created for the children to take away and enjoy at home. Dom was so pleasant, helpful and polite at all times. He engaged beautifully with the children and their parents/carers. He also stayed behind to help with the tidying up. He is a real credit to himself, his family and as a representative of your school."

Well done Dom! If ever anyone has any stories to share with us about the good work the pupils are doing outside of school, please email the school office.

Rocksteady concert Rocksteady concert

Our budding musicians did a fantastic job on Tuesday at the Rocksteady concert. They have worked really hard on their performances and put on a good show for the whole audience. We look forward to the next one.

Choir Choir

It wasn’t just our rockstars that had all the music fun this week. The choir had the opportunity to sing at a local nursing home. The residents always love a visit from the children and, as always, they did us proud!

A visit from the Fire Brigade! A visit from the Fire Brigade!

Year two were incredibly lucky this week and had a visit from 'Fire fighter Jonny'. They got to try on the uniform (including a new style of helmet) and learnt all about the job of a fire fighter. The pupils all even received a fire fighter's hat to take home with them. Thank you very much fire fighter Jonny!

If you make an online purchase, a commission is generated, and they turn that into a donation.

It might sound complicated but if you scan the QR code below and then follow the step by step instructions, it is really easy to set up. I trialled it last night and, although I am not the best with IT, I managed it!

This site gives more detail about how it works, but scanning the QR code is the way to set it up.

Sporting achievements Sporting achievements

Well done to the under 11 football team who travelled to Blakehill Primary this week.

As always, it was a very close match, with both teams playing some fantastic football. Low Ash took the lead early on and, although Blakehill came very close to scoring in the second half, in the last 5 minutes, Low Ash managed to catch Blakehill on the counter attack, with our Year 5 pupil Cairo scoring twice and the game ending 3-0.

Players of the match:

George
