The Challenge Program, Inc., visited the BMHS this week to present current juniors and seniors with their awards, which were based upon performance last year. Last year's seniors received their awards at the end of last year. The performance categories are: Attendance, STEM, Academic Improvement, Academic Improvement, and Community Service. Each award winner received a certificate and a check in the amount of $200.00. Thanks to business partner, Hormann, 15-$200 awards were distributed for last year's student performance in the award categories.
Our pep band with the drumline has been in full performance mode this football season. The students who are participating have had a great time, and appreciate the opportunity to get back into our home stadium.
The 6th grade celebrated Unity Day last week by designing individual puzzle pieces that all fit together for a team puzzle. "Each of us is unique, and when we come together the puzzle is complete."
Mr. Froats' students saw an opportunity to create ghoulishly good food in class this week. Some say school is about nourishing the mind, but these students demonstrated how the mind can provide nourishment ;)
The 6th grade wrapped up this month's Tuesday Talk theme on bullying prevention by building a chain of ideas to stop bullying and spread positivity in their school. In the coming weeks, they will continue to reflect on these ideas and how they impact their school community.
Burgettstown-based Hormann (www.hormann-flexon.com) provided a facility tour (and lunch!) for several BMHS students this week. What an amazing opportunity for students to see how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are used in industry.
