NXT Gen GEAR UP is a one-stop resource designed to help Class of 2025 students and parents plan for post-secondary success. Students will have access to TSI/SAT/ACT resources, college requirements, financial aid, armed forces, scholarships, career exploration, ASVAB testing, and so much more. We are here to help guide and motivate our students to succeed in life and encourage them to reach their highest potential.

Each month NXT Gen GEAR UP will have a theme to foreshadow College/Career/Military Readiness (CCMR) for our Class of 2025 cohort.

Community Partners/Vendors will be in the building to share great and wonderful resources with DHS Families.

Dinner will be provided and all participants are eligible for raffles and prizes.

NXT Gen Seniors were given an opportunity to prep for both the TSIA English & Math assessments with one of our Strategic Partners Sure Score. The students went through a strenuous boot camp teaching them the strategies to successfully receive the scores needed to be "College Ready"

NXT Gen Seniors who are interested in the arts had the opportunity to see “Pelleas and Melisande” with the Dallas Opera.

This was a new experience for majority of our students and encouraged them to continue to seek life moments and develop their artistic crafts into something their family and community could be proud of.

Southern Illinois University Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and a host of staff visited DHS to grant admission and give scholarships to DHS Seniors.

Teen Girls - Let's Talk!

Teen girls ages 13 – 18, are invited to join Cheryl Washington for weekly discussions on how to cope with life’s challenges. Teens are encouraged to introduce topics that interest them.
