Dear Parents and Guardians!

We are now halfway through the first quarter, and interim reports will soon be available in Synergy. Please remind your students of a few important habits that support their success:

  • Advocate for themselves when they need clarity or help with a task.

  • Arrive at school and classes on time, ready to learn.

  • Monitor due dates and deadlines carefully, as the new MCPS grading policy is now in effect.

Thank you for partnering with us in building strong habits that support both academic achievement and personal growth.

🎲 Family Game Night at SGMS!

Friday, October 24 | 5–7 pm

💡 Why Family Game Night Matters

These games are more than just fun—they help students grow:

  • Academic Growth: Strategy, sequencing, logic, and problem-solving skills build connections to math, reading, and critical thinking.

  • Social-Emotional Growth: Taking turns, practicing patience, working as a team, and celebrating wins and losses help students develop empathy, resilience, and confidence.

  • Cultural Awareness: Games from around the world highlight the diversity of our community and build pride in cultural traditions.

👉 Click here to complete the Google Form

Note: Space will be limited for this first event. We’ll ensure all cultures are represented, and depending on interest, we may host a Part 2 in the spring. Bring the whole crew for a great evening together! 🐺💜🌍

Extracurricular activities (ECA) will begin on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and conclude for the year on Thursday, May 14, 2025. The sign up sheets for the first week of activities will be up on Monday September 29 until Monday October 06!

The list and description of the activities offered in the fall session (both in English and Spanish), instructions on how to sign up, and bus routes was presented to students during Homeroom tomorrow, Monday September 29, 2025. Only students who are staying after school in a supervised activity from 3:00 – 4:15 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays may ride an activity bus. Activity buses depart from SGMS at approximately 4:30pm.

All students should ride the activity bus, get picked up, or walk home by 4:30 pm each day. Staff supervision can NOT be guaranteed past 5pm. Our ECA sponsors look forward to engaging, enriching, and having fun with you!
