Learning Unit
The class started investigating how things grow, especially trees. From a tiny seed to a huge tree takes years to grow. Hopefully the flower seeds we planted won't take years to grow. Over time we will observe the seeds and see what happens. Once the seeds turn into seedlings we will start to understand the attributes and relative properties of objects (measurement and data). We will use strategies to determine measurable attributes (e.g., length/hight of the seedlings) and use standard or non-standard measurement tools to collect the data.
We made a recycled paper tree and flowers. The students created a beautiful tree with more cherry blossoms . We used real pressed flowers as a stamp for the cherry blossoms on our project.

Science
This week we focus on how plants grow. We really learned how a life cycle works and learned the life cycle of a plant. Everything that is alive has a life cycle. The students did a funny game of what is alive and what is not alive. We giggled at the things that are not alive for example, Ms. Danielle's coffee, a chair, a pencil and more. It was silly to think if we gave a chair water, sun and soil that it would grow. The students related it closer to themselves, thinking of the question... we grow... what do we need? Good think we don't need soil to eat in order to grow! Hopefully in the next week or two we will have sunflower sprouts!
