Greatness On The Horizon - Live The Mission
A Message From Mrs. Gabriela Elliott, Campus Principal
Greetings Ravens!
Wooohooo!!!! 98 days of INSTRUCTION are in the books! Two more days for 100 days of school! Please note students are encouraged to dress up and show how they have aged. They may create a special shirt to represent their 100 days, dress like an old lady/man, our staff will be "glamas" and "glampas". Be creative and have fun.
Our overall Year to Date attendance is currently at 95.57. We went down .22% points this week. Let's do better Ravens! Every day matters. Lots going on this semester. We have our 8th graders taking PAAM and TSIA, and this upcoming month we have TELPAS and Interim Testing. Let's ensure our scholars are in class and ready to learn.
A special shoutout to our 7th Graders for earning 97.01% attendance!! WOW, outstanding job 7th grade!!! They have earned free dress on Monday, 1/29/24. Our 6th graders keep maintaining 95% or higher attendance of 96.14% making them second. Still outstanding work 6th grade!!! Way to make it count. 8th grade came in third with 92.63%; this is a 2.31% drop from last week. Let's make it count 8th grade. Parents please encourage your children to be in school every day.
As an added incentive, we are raffling a PS5 at the end of the 9 weeks for any student with perfect attendance, starting 1/17/2024 to March 1st. Thank you teachers and staff for your support and encouragement to our scholars. Every percent matters Ravens! Let's keep pushing and growing! Our goal is 97% or better. Every day, every minute of instruction matters.
We track attendance daily and will communicate with families when children have 5 absences & tardies to establish a Loss of Credit Contract. Our goal is for your child to be healthy and at school without losing credit.
- Each SCHOLAR with perfect attendance Monday-Friday will be allowed to wear jeans Fridays.
- Each SCHOLAR with perfect attendance for 9 weeks will be invited to our Raven Dance at the end of the semester FREE of CHARGE to celebrate their accomplishment!
- Each GRADE LEVEL that earns the highest attendance for the week gets free dress on the Monday after.
- Perfect attendance 1/17/24 to 3/1/224 enters a raffle for a chance to win a PS5
Tardies.
Scholars will be counted TARDY whey they enter the building after 8:00 AM and will result in lunch detention.
Again, we are holding power hour after school. Our benchmarks, PAAM Testing and TELPAS TESTING are these 9 weeks. STAAR tests will be in early and late April. We have three and a half months to ensure that our Ravens are ready for STAAR and the upcoming school year. Thank you teachers for always bringing your best.
Fliers - please note fliers below for fundraiser opportunities, Feeder Parent Cafe, Latino Literacy Family Nights, Friday Camps, and March Intersession (all Ravens are invited).
Online Store - The new shirts and sweatshirts purchased will be going out this week. We had anticipated this week. We apologize for the delay.
Student IDs - All students need to have an ID to ride the Bus. They must check in as they enter and exit the bus. We have an app Ride 360 that helps us track routes and students aboard. Students without ID's may loose the privilege to ride the bus. All ID were distributed at the beginning of the school. If students lost them, they are $5 with our Librarian Ms. Nunez.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up - Please note regular instructional day drop off/pick up procedures, as a reminder that the only pick up and drop off area is on the west side of the building. This helps ensure the safety of all students at dismissal time and morning entrance. Thank you for your understanding.
January's Theme is Respect.
What is Respect?
Respect is the willingness and ability to act professionally and thoughtfully with ourselves and others. Leaders can deal respectfully with opposition and provide space for both dignity and differences to coexist.
Why focus on Respect?
- Respect contributes to a positive culture. People feel safe, supported, and engaged in the context of thoughtful social, emotional, civic, and intellectual interactions.
- Respect decreases conflict. Respect helps us, and others, to be able to express ourselves without fear of being judged, humiliated, or discriminated against.
- Respect encourages empathy. Respect helps us to understand each other and put ourselves in someone else shoes.
Respect in Action:
- Teach students words have power. How we talk to others, and ourselves, can motivate or discourage, connect or destroy, hurt or heal. We should choose our words with care.
- Create opportunities for group decision-making. Open dialogue engages students in a process where compromise is crucial to making decisions.
- Vary protocols for classroom sharing. Frequently use open-ended questions, partner sharing, and small group activities to connect and promote understanding between students.

Gentle Reminder on Drop Off and Pick Up
Please note parent drop off and pick up is on the west side only. Visitor front parking is limited to handicap and those coming to front office. We have seen some parents picking up in the front. This poses a safety issue. We will be monitoring the front entrance again to ensure everyone is safe.
