Kane County Cougars Reading Incentive: April 21st - May 21st
Reading Logs - Turned in by May 21st
Each student is responsible for reading two books a week. The students will write the title and author of each book read and the parents will sign off. The reading logs will be each student's ticket for a Kane County Cougars Baseball Game.
Summer Chromebook Use
Salt Creek School District 48 all district-issued Chromebooks (and chargers) go home with students for summer use. All Chromebook activity will continue to be filtered and logged. However, the District will not be actively monitoring the activity until school resumes and students will only be allowed to access district approved educational materials. This only applies to students in grades 1 through 7 who are fully registered for the 25-26 school year. Summer technology will not be an option for our current kindergarten students, as those Chromebooks remain in Kindergarten each year.
We will not be able to do repairs throughout the summer, so if your child's device has any issues during this time, please email their school's administrative assistant and principal. We can work together on a solution that works best for you.
If you would like to opt-out of having your child keep their device for the summer, please email Gerrie Aulisa at gaulisa@saltcreek48.org. If no response is received, and your child is fully registered, then your child will be sent home with their Chromebook.
Cell Phones and Smart Watches in D48
All cell phones and smart watches must be powered down and stored in their locker upon entering the building for the entire school day.
Phones have been installed in every classroom and students can contact you quickly when necessary. If you need to contact your child throughout the day - we will ask that you call the office and we will make sure to communicate the information to your child.
Any student found to have a Cell Phone or a Smart Watch on them will be asked to turn it off and bring it to the office. The student may pick up the device from the office at the end of the day as they exit the building.
Thank you in advance for supporting our tech-free distractions to support our student's learning environment.

News from the Nurse
Why the Measles Vaccine Matters for School Communities
With recent news coverage about measles outbreaks in other parts of the country, we wanted to share a quick reminder about how we can keep our school community healthy and safe.
While there are currently no measles cases in Illinois, it’s still important to stay prepared. Measles is highly contagious and can spread quickly—but the MMR vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.
In Illinois, children are required to receive two doses of the MMR vaccine before starting Kindergarten (with some exceptions). If you're unsure whether your child is up to date, a quick check with your healthcare provider can help.
Student Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
Please follow the guidelines below to keep drop off/pick up running smoothly. Students can enter the building at 7:30 AM. Morning supervision ends with a 7:40 AM bell and all doors will be closed. Pick Up time is 2:20 PM.
- Pull up as far as you can to allow multiple cars to unload at one time. Cones will be out for the last few parking spaces to help with this.
- Stay in single line (no double rows).
- Use Monterey to proceed to the line. Do not turn down Elder and turn around in a resident's driveway.
- Drive the speed limit when driving on Monterey and any streets around the school.
- Do not park on the east side of the building. This can be very dangerous, it blocks traffic and slows down the line.
- Do not wait and watch your child enter the building. If you need to watch your child enter the building, please park on the west side of the building and walk your child to the front entrance. We have a supervisor on duty from 7:30-7:40 am.
- If you do not see supervision in the back and it is after 7:40 AM you must then park your car in the west side parking lot, walk to the front door with your student(s) and buzz the front door to sign them. All parents must sign their student(s) in at the office.
