Classroom Walkthrough Look Fors Classroom Walkthrough Look Fors

We will use this section to let you know when Mrs. Burris, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Robles, or Ms. Lewis come in to your classroom, what we will be looking for. As the school year unfolds, we will provide teaching staff with immediate feedback from our walkthroughs.

Classroom Walkthrough focus: Reading Horizons, HMH, Ada Math, and Calendar Math

**District challenge: When students speak with one another or answer a question aloud, have them practice speaking in complete sentences. Modeling and providing students with sentence starters are a great way to set our students up for success!**

Teacher Tights Teacher Tights

  • Teachers will greet students at their classroom doors by 8:05 a.m. to foster a welcoming and structured start to the day.

  • Small group instruction will be implemented consistently and adjusted regularly based on students’ most recent assessment data to ensure targeted support and academic growth.

  • All assessments must be administered according to the district’s assessment calendar, including but not limited to NWEA, district benchmarks, common formative assessments (CFAs), and interim assessments. Deviations from this schedule will not be permitted.

  • Staff members are expected to be punctual for their assigned duty posts and are responsible for securing coverage in the event of an absence.

  • Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings are protected time. Teachers are expected to avoid scheduling appointments or phone calls during this time and should come prepared to engage in active, collaborative participation.

  • Weekly lesson plans must be submitted to the designated Google Classroom by Monday morning at 8:00 a.m., ensuring alignment with curriculum expectations and instructional goals.

Things to Remember Things to Remember

Classroom Doors

Classroom doors should be locked at all times!

Classroom Dismissal Roster

Each homeroom teacher should have a copy (physical or digital) of how each of our students goes home. This information must come from the parent. For safety reasons, we do not rely on the word from the student.

Class Presentations/Showcases during Friday Assembly

If you would like for your class or grade level to present a special presentation on something you all have been learning about, please reach out to Mrs. Burris and Mrs. Anderson and we will work to get it scheduled during a Friday assembly.

Language Link Information

OKCPS has a language link line you can use for our families who don't speak English.

Language link

Call 1-866-477-5343

Enter account number 24326 followed by # sign

Then you will be asked which language you need interpretation for and you will need the number for the parent as well

Once an interpreter is on the phone they will connect your call to the parent (like a 3 way call)

If there is no answer, they will ask if you want to leave a message.

You can use the same interpreter for multiple calls

MTSS Resources

Here you will find MTSS resources that we will utilize throughout the school year.

Nurse Pass

Before sending a student to the nurse's office, please make sure they come with nurse's pass so Mrs. Harrison knows why they are coming to visit. Nurse passes can be found in the staff workroom (they are highlighter yellow).

Staff Sign in/Sign out Sheet (Leaving Campus-Duty free lunch)

Per CBA, teachers and staff are allowed to leave campus during their duty free lunch. Please make sure do the following prior to leaving:

2. Fill out the sign out sheet that is located on the top of Mrs. Harrison's desk in the front office.

3. Sign back in when you return to campus.

Student Eloping

If a student elopes, please inform the office so that an administrator can be notified. For safety reasons, there should always be eyes on the student. The student should not be unsupervised.

Procedure for Requesting Supplies from the Supply Closet

If you are needing to request supplies from the supply closet, please email Ms. Harrison (email: mrharrison@okcps.org) and Mrs. Greer ( email: agreer@okcps.org) the supplies you are requesting. They will respond to your request within 24 hours.

Student Families (Check in/Check out Procedures)

**This information has been shared with our students' families. This is a district wide change to ensure the office area is not overcrowded and increase our safety measures.**

Checking in a scholar when tardy: Our attendance clerk, Ms. Harrison will be located at the front entrance of the school beginning at 8:20 to ensure that students who are tardy are signed in by their parent/guardian and receive a tardy slip before heading to class.

Checking out a scholar from school: Parents/guardians will present their ID to our front office staff on the camera located by the door that leads to the front office (there will be signs by this door). Once verifying the parent’s/guardian’s information, the parent/guardian will wait in the mini walkway area that leads to the door where they presented their ID. Then, the student will be called down from their class and will walk out the door to their parent/guardian in the waiting area in the mini walkway.

Student Uniforms

If you have a student in your class who is consistently not in uniform, please email Mrs. Harrison so that she can reach out to the parent. We will not be sending a student home because they are not in uniform.
