The Fowler Weekly
December 12-16
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Fowler Family,
I want to give a quick shout out to one of our elective teachers, Aaron Bech, who was recognized by Fox 12 News as December’s teacher of the month. This is a pretty cool acknowledgement and we believe Mr. Bech will be highlighted in a news story sometime later in the week.
We only have one more week before our winter break. I know students are probably looking forward to a break from school, but I also want to plant a seed that there is a lot of time for students to catch up on work or reading if they are behind. iReady math and language arts lessons are also loaded and accessible on student iPads so please feel free to remind students of that if they have too much free time over the break.
Be well and be safe this week and over the break. We will see you in 2023!
Andy
HAPPENINGS
We handed out certificates this week to recognize our students who made the Quarter 1 Honor Roll. Students must earn a 3.5 or higher GPA in order to make the Honor Roll. Please join us in congratulating the following students for their hard work:
It’s Spirit Week! Our leadership students have set a schedule for Spirit Week. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
- Monday, December 12 Color Out: Wear bright colors
- Tuesday, December 13 Sports Day: Wear Jerseys, t-shirts, etc
- Wednesday, December 14 Long Winter Nap Day: Wear PJs, Comfy Clothes
- Thursday, December 15 Formal Day: Wear your finest attire
- Friday, December 16 Candy Cane Day: Wear red and white and/or stripes.
There is no more Homework Help for the rest of this quarter. Affinity groups may meet this week. Please have your student check with their leader to see if they are meeting this week.
Fowler's Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is starting up in January. If your child would like to participate, please see our librarian, Mrs. Wolfe, and sign-up on the poster. When they do, they can also check-out some books from the list to begin reading over Winter Break! OBOB sign-ups will be part of Winter ASA and will meet Mondays and Wednesdays. We are looking for 3-4 parent volunteers to help lead book groups! If you are interested in volunteering on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15 p.m, please email Mrs. Roshak at eroshak@ttsd.k12.or.us. Thank you!
Attention 6th grade parents! Please mark your calendars for Outdoor School. Our 6th grade students are scheduled to go March 13-17. It is one of the highlights of sixth grade in Tigard-Tualatin Schools.Outdoor School is where the study of ecology, science, math, and conservation of resources takes place in a real life setting. Through hands-on activities, students develop an understanding of individual parts of the environment and how the parts fit together. Outdoor School will take place at Trickle Creek Camp and Cedar Ridge Camp this year. Both camps will be supervised by Fowler 6th grade teachers along with camp staff. Our hope is that all 6th grade students will be able to attend Outdoor School, and this year we are excited to offer this experience at no cost to students and families. Please watch The Fowler Weekly in January for more information.
PLEASE READ if you drop-off your student or pick-up your student:

BASIC NEEDS
We would like to share with families that Fowler received a great donation of food boxes that will be given to Fowler families first come first serve during the week of December 12th- December 16 from 9:00am-11:00am and 12:30pm-3:30pm, or until they run out. The food boxes include Pacific Foods, Campbell’s, Swanson and Pepperidge items. These are items like soups, non-dairy milk, beans and crackers that are kids friendly and easy to prepare.
The boxes are available for parents to pick-up at Fowler at the entrance of the school and students are also welcome to pick up the food boxes. Please take 2 boxes per family. For any questions please call Ana Patlan at 503-431-5054.
PSO
A message from the PSO:
Falcon Families, it is that time again to spread some holiday cheer and show off your baking (or shopping) skills! Each year we do a holiday cookie swap for our Fowler Staff. We provide the cookies as a well deserved thank you and each staff member gets to take home a platter filled with all the goodies! A nice variety of wonderful treats they didn't have to make. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up! We are still in need of filling a few slots, especially the gluten free and vegan. Please share your favorite recipe or bakery treat to help wish our staff a happy New year!
