Kindergarten

The kindergarten classes learned about the life cycle of a turkey in Makerspace. All 3 kindergarten classes worked hard and earned an extra recess with Mr. Widdoes!

1st Grade

First grade students started a unit on needs and wants. They learned about basic needs and how they can help the community meet them. We assisted the entire school with the canned food drive. We counted the totals, carried, and delivered them to the pantry. We collected 694 items (THANK YOU)! Then, we walked to the Reynoldsburg Helping Hands Food Pantry to deliver the items collected during the school-wide drive. It was a great hands-on experience to learn about Empathy and helping the community!

3rd Grade

Third Graders participated in Kids Vote Ohio again this year, and one of the topics they covered was campaigning! Students looked at various ways candidates get their name and ideas shared with voters.

4th Grade

4th graders learned about how to write and structure an opinion essay relating to changes we want to make to our school! Another highlight was completing ecosystem slideshows with animals that fit in different ecosystems.

Also, the 4th grade team would like to give a special shoutout to Juan Hernandez, who completed all levels in Lexia! Congratulations Juan!

5th grade

5th Grade has been learning all about inventions! ELA has been writing expository essays on inventors, Maker Space students learned about "accidental inventions," and in Science, students created a invention at our Invention Convention that would help people and presented in to their classes! Every student created their own inventions. For example; watermelon ice cream, ruler that marks itself, sponge under the shoe to easily clean, and sport sticks.

In ELA, students also worked on "How to Catch A Turkey" narratives and first block ELA earned a "Turkey Jam!" This included sharing/reading our completed narratives to our class block while we enjoyed snacks and drinks the Monday before fall break.

Pizza with the Principals Pizza with the Principals

Pizza with the Principals is part of our PBIS incentive program for students. Each month students earn pride tickets for demonstrating S.O.A.R expectations. Students may choose to spend their tickets in our monthly Firebird Flea Market or save them for something better next month. This month we had 9 students choose Pizza with the Principals as their incentive award. Mr. Fetty and Mr. Cracraft served pizza and spent time talking to students during lunch.

This month we also included our Firebirds walkathon winners of the pizza party. Those students raised over $200 for the walkathon and earned the pizza party award.

Here is what it means to S.O.A.R:

S - Self Control

O - On Task

A - Accepting

R - Respect

Volunteer Day at FRES

Thanks to the Reynoldsburg Community Church for supporting French Run during our clean up day. We were able to clean up and prep our raised garden beds for spring planting. We also cleaned up our Firebird Nest and removed all the weeds and grass from that space. Thank you to our firebird families who came out and volunteered on a Saturday morning.

Beginning Monday September 15th, all family communication was transitioned to using Talking Points. You may click on the link below for additional information about Talking Points.

https://intercom.help/talkingpoints/en/articles/10504279-translated-talkingpoints-families-app-invitations-printable

Parent/Guardians will be automatically enrolled with your phone number and e-mail addresses on file in the office.

It is very important that your phone number is updated so you can stay up to date with information from the building! To begin, TalkingPoints will automatically allow us to communicate by text messages to your phone. If you wish, you can download the TalkingPoints Parent app to your phone. This allows you to do more advanced features such as react to messages, RSVP to events, and more. Downloading the app is optional.

Any changes in phone number, e-mail address, or other important information should be communicated to the front office as soon as you can.

Change of addresses are required by Ohio Law, and should be communicated with our welcome center. Cindy in the French Run front office can help with this process.
