District Communications Director

Hi everyone! I’m Patty Torres, your new District Communications Director. Some of you might recognize me from Merkley Elementary, where I served as the secretary for the past seven years. My husband, Omar, and I are deeply invested in this wonderful community, and we have three kids in the district: Alex (Freshman), Jackie (5th grade), and Pete (4th grade).

In this new role, my main goal is to showcase what makes STOH so special—and to ensure our amazing staff feels celebrated every day. My door is always open, and I can’t wait to partner with you all for a fantastic school year!

Girls Elementary Basketball

The Lady Wolverines of Warren edged out the Lady Warriors of Southridge in dramatic fashion, going into not one overtime, but two! The second overtime was sudden death, first basket scored takes the crown. Makenzie A. scored a nice little jumper off the glass to make the final score 11-9. The Lady Mustangs of Merkley took third place beating the Lady Wildcats of Johnston, 11-4. What a great season of elementary girls basketball!

Latinos Count - Viva College!

The Viva College! Scholarship Lunch is Latinos Count’s annual celebration of Latino academic

achievement, bringing together students, families, educators, and community leaders to honor

our scholars and inspire the next generation.

HHS Assistant Principal, Ms. Campos, took a group of students to this luncheon where our very own HHS alumn, Ruby R., was honored for the scholarship she received.

Band, Choir, Orchestra

Over the past two weeks, Monbeck Auditorium came alive with music as our band, choir, and orchestra each took to the stage for their performances. They all did a phenomenal job!

Homecoming Week

The week of September 28th highlighted the absolute best of our school community during Homecoming 2026.

The festivities began with our annual parade, where middle and high school students marched through the rain —a true display of school pride. The momentum continued into our all-school pep rally, where the Freshman football team showed incredible teamwork by taking home the tug-of-war title.

On Friday evening, community members gathered under the stadium lights. While our football team fought hard in a tough game, the highlight of the evening was honoring our court and crowning Dylan F. and Kennedy S. as our Homecoming King and Queen.

The week concluded with Saturday evening's Homecoming Dance at the school. Our students were looking sharp and enjoyed a safe, fun night. Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and students who made this week such a success!
