WHY IS YOUR PARTICIPATION SO IMPORTANT?
The Angel Scholarship Fund (ASF) has been one of the greatest blessings to Catholic education. The cost to attend Saint Rita School has never been more affordable for families with many households paying minimal out-of-pocket costs for tuition.
How is this possible you ask?
Thanks to the overwhelming support of our Saint Rita community, a record $160,000 in Angel Scholarships were awarded to over 100 households for this school year. This has been the highest amount awarded for Saint Rita. Most importantly, the dollars contributed to the Angel Scholarship Fund did not cost a penny for those who made an investment! While the Angel Scholarship Fund was established with the goal of helping lower the out-of-pocket tuition costs for families with the greatest prioritized needs, its impact has been much broader and for the benefit of both Saint Rita School and the parish. Here’s how!
Welcoming New School Families: Thanks to the affordability the Angel Scholarship Fund offers, Saint Rita School has experienced an increase in new families, particularly with families transitioning from Pre-School to Kindergarten. These new families will become the future of Saint Rita School with more growth expected in the coming years.
Increasing Teacher Compensation: While several factors contribute to our teacher retention, the Angel Scholarship Fund plays a key role in helping to increase the compensation of our dedicated and talented teachers.
Lowering the Parish Investment and Expanding Capacity: Understanding the financial burden Catholic education can have on families, school tuition has always been set significantly lower than the cost to educate. This would mean the additional funds would need to be drawn from other sources. The Angel Scholarship Fund has allowed Saint Rita School to increase tuition while, most importantly, keeping the out-of-pocket costs for families the same or even sometimes lower. While the parish is fully invested in the school, the Angel Scholarship Fund has reduced the parish's subsidy to the school. With the freed up dollars, the parish has been able to invest in its own projects like the renovation of the church, upgrading church entrance ways, hiring additional staff and offering valuable resources for the faith formation of our parishioners such as Children's Mass Bags, missals and the Little Books throughout the liturgical year. We also look to maximize the educational value for each student and their families. We are able to gift students with a variety of faith-based reading material for our school and PSR children as well as advancing our SLAM Camp and VBS programs each year.
