Updates & info Updates & info

Week 7...and Christmas has really hit! From our services at St Wilf's on Monday, then Christmas discos on Tuesday, Christmas dinner on Wednesday and singing to finish off today, we have fitted lots of celebrations in. Mr Osborne and his class even managed a class worship for the rest of school and the parents in the middle of it all: well done to them!

I know we always say this, but we absolutely could not do these things without the support from all the staff who often give up their free time to do way more than their daily teaching. Please join me in wishing them a very restful Christmas break before everything starts again in January.

Christmas dinner Kim and her team in the kitchen did an amazing job preparing and serving around 300 Christmas dinners on Wednesday. Thanks to everyone involved in making this day a lovely celebration with tablecloths, decorations and crakers for everyone.

Code of Conduct All YLT schools now have an updated Parent & Carer Code of Conduct to outline trust expectations around contact with schools in all ways. The full document is here Parent & Carer Code of Conduct

Safeguarding newsletter The December safeguarding newsletter for families is now available here. This month it includes advice if your child is having a new device for Christmas.

School admissions - Reception 2026 If your child was born between 1.9.2021 and 31.8.2022 you will need to apply for a Reception place to start in September 2026. Online applications open on 12 October here. The deadline for this is 15 January 2026. Please remember that even if your child already attends our Nursery, you still need to apply for a Reception place through this system.

Whole School Attendance

The flu outbreak continued last week (see the graph below) but we have seen much better attendance in this last week of term as children recover and return to school: it just isn't showing on this graph yet.

Our DFE attendance target for this school year is 95.2%: if we meet this target, it is more than 270 extra school days compared to last year. We are sitting below this target at the moment for obvious reasons, but we plan to get back on track once everyone is over the current flu and sickness bugs in the new year.

The graph below shows our attendance this year against other schools: we are the pink line.
