Happy Tuesday!

Those of us that were lucky enough to decide on education as a profession are reminded very often about how great kids are and what an honor it is to work with them daily. There are constant examples of kids doing the right thing, and personally, I am impressed and proud of our students daily. I could highlights dozens of events or actions big or small to display this. Below is one example for you of the connections and the relationships that have an impact at HSN.

It's a Great Day to be a Mariner

We are proud to share that one of our very own Mariners, junior Emily Thai, earned third place in the annual Toms River Veterans Commission Essay Contest. Emily impressed the judging panel with her heartfelt essay about a veteran who inspires her.

Emily is a student in Mr. Smith’s AP U.S. History class, and we couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishment. Congratulations, Emily!

Toms River Regional Schools is partnering with Kaplan to provide students with access to a New Jersey Real Estate Licensing Course at a reduced cost. The asynchronous course can be started at any time and includes live support classes, weekly study sessions, and exam preparation. Students must be 17 or older to register and 18 to sit for the state exam. The cost for the course is $164.50, paid directly to Kaplan.

Interested students should see their school counselor.

We offer free tutoring for all of our students 3 days per week from our NHS students. Take advantage of this!

ATTN Sophomores & Juniors:

On Wednesday October 28, HS North will be running the PSAT test for 10th and 11th graders for FREE! The PSAT is an excellent way to start preparing for the SAT. Juniors can also qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program if they score high enough. There are no makeups for PSAT's and more information will be provided as the date approaches.

UPCOMING EVENING EVENTS FOR FAMILIES & STUDENTS:

FAFSA Support Session - October 17, 9:30 AM in the HS East Cafeteria - Solution Prep of Toms River will help families complete and submit their FAFSA application. All students who plan on attending any type of post secondary education should complete a FAFSA. This session is for current seniors and their families.

SAT/ACT Overview - October 22 - 6:30 PM in the HS South Cafeteria - Solution Prep of Toms River will present information on the SAT & ACT test including timeline of when to test, differences between the 2 tests and strategies for success.
