Field Trip to Ballet West to attend Dracula
We have been selected to attend a free performance of the ballet Dracula by Ballet West on Thursday, October 29th during school. We'll take public transit, so please drop off your student at the Provo Frontrunner Station between 8:15–8:30am and pick them up from the same station after 3:10pm. There will be some walking to and from public transit stations, so please prepare for around 15-20 minutes of city walking both ways! Students are also encouraged to dress up for the ballet, so if you need to bring walkable shoes and/or a jacket, please come prepared!
If your child will be using a different TRAX Station this needs to be approved with Lois 24 hours in advance. Email: lois@waldenschool.us
Note: after school clubs at the high school will be canceled that day (middle school clubs will proceed as normal).
If you have any further questions please email becca.ogden@waldenschool.us .
Wearing Costumes on 10/30
Walden Costume Guidelines
We enjoy celebrating Halloween with your students! It is a perennial favorite of students and faculty alike! As we approach the holiday, we'd like for students & parents to keep our costume guidelines in mind. These guidelines are in place not only for safety but also to ensure that the Walden community remains an inclusive, respectful and thoughtful place, especially during the holidays.
1. No masks are to be worn during school hours. Masks may come to school and be worn during the parade only, before/after which they must be kept in a bag/backpack.
2. No weapons of any kind (even if they are fake) may be brought to school. No exceptions.
3. No culturally insensitive/offensive costumes (please do not dress up as a member of any ethnic or cultural group).
4. No costumes that make it impossible to move around the classroom or school (such as overly large costumes or costumes that impede the arms, legs, or line of sight). Students should be able to move freely through doors, navigate the bathroom independently, and participate in school activities while in costume.
5. Any costume in violation of Walden's regular dress code (costumes that depict hate speech, illegal activity, profanity, sexist/racist sentiments or other discriminatory content, may not be worn; clothes that reveal undergarments or private parts; or accessories that could be considered dangerous) will be subject to being asked to change or getting picked up from school.
Thank you all, in advance, for making Walden a safe and caring community! If you have specific questions about your students costume appropriateness, please contact the front office.
