Notes from the North Park Hive
A little BUZZ from the principal
Last Week of October!
Dear Families,
It's hard to believe another month has come and almost gone! October has been a fast month due to Fall Break. I have seen a lot of progress and growth in the few weeks we have had, though!
There is NO PRESCHOOL on Monday of this week!
We have had several "visitors" to the school lately - KY State Representative Nancy Tate, HCS district literacy walkthroughs, a representative from our regional educational co-op and more! All of our visitors have been REALLY complimentary of our school and students. We have had glowing reviews and walkthroughs! I know our school is FANTASTIC, but it is always so nice for others to see and hear the great things happening at NPES. Your children really are being taught by the best of the best - and the love our staff has for your children is ALWAYS evident.
Thank you to those who were able to come to our family night! It was SUCH A GREAT NIGHT and we LOVED seeing families reading together, enjoying food, playing together in the gym, making crafts, etc. So many smiles!! We also crushed an attendance record for family nights - 722 people! WOW! Your support is so greatly appreciated and valued by our staff!
We will be celebrating our NPES Veterans (and Active Duty military) on November 7th. More info is below in the newsletter, but we hope our veterans and active duty members will join us for our celebration (parade and refreshments). Please be sure to sign up so we can be prepared for your visit.
We have some kindergarten field trips this week and I know the weather looks bleak with lots of rain in the forecast. We plan to still take those trips, as a lot of the activities are in a barn. Please be sure to send your student with a rain jacket and appropriate shoes. I highly recommend considering a plastic bag and change of shoes in the backpack as well if you are able to do that. If your child does not have a light jacket with a hood, please reach out to the office or Ms. Ivy in the Family Resource Center.
Please also note that school is closed for ALL students in HCS on Monday, November 3rd.
If you need assistance with the app in any way, please call the NPES office at 270-351-4464 or email laurabeth.hayes@hardin.kyschools.us
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hayes (principal)

We are always very excited to recognize and honor our Veterans and Active Duty Military! We are very proud to be a Purple Star school, and we are thankful to be part of a wonderful military community.
We will be hosting a Veterans Day parade at NPES on November 7th. The parade will include NPES family members and MANY organizations throughout our community. We will have various military vehicles and participants! Please consider joining us if you are a veteran or active duty member.
You will need to sign up to join the parade. All the details can be found on the sign up link. We will also have coffee/light refreshments in our library after the parade and then we will have the option for you to read to your child's class (if interested).

Please note that our lunch menu will sometimes differ from what is listed due to availability of items and delivery dates to our school sometimes being different. All students may eat breakfast and lunch for FREE.
Walking Field Trip Kindergarten
Kinder parents - a paper permission form went home regarding a WALKING field trip to North Middle School. Please send it back ASAP! PLEASE WEAR TENNIS SHOES AND A LIGHT JACKET FOR THIS WALKING TRIP!!! Students are walking to the middle school, so no shoes that might be hard for them to walk, please. Students with mobility challenges or concerns of running away will be transported by a bus we have secured.
Reading Tree at NPES
Let's fill our reading tree this month!
Our reading tree was filled on every branch for September. We LOVE seeing students reading at home with their families!!!! The Octob er reading tree leaves were sent home home or should be coming home ASAP, and you can print out from the link below as well! If you need more, just let your teacher know. READ TOGETHER AS A FAMILY!
Week At-a-Glance
Portrait of a Learner
Our Portrait of a Learner focus this month is "responsible citizen." We will be reminding students that they are responsible when they come to school on time, work hard during the school day and show respect by following school rules and expectations.
Kinder Families - Save the Date
Our Thanksgiving Holiday Meal will be November 20th. Families are invited to come join students for this yearly tradition. The meal costs $5 and we will take sign-ups and money in ADVANCE. Please be watching for that info after the first of the month. Preschool Holiday Meal is in December - so more info to come on that!
No School on November 3rd
As noted on the HCS calendar, there is no school for students on November 3rd (all grade levels).
