Week of November 13, 2022
Thank you to the many families that have donated to our Community Partnership Project. The Weymouth Food Pantry is always so grateful for donations from our Johnson ECC Families. As we celebrated Super Friend this week, we teach our students about kindness and how to show kindness to others. We always start by teaching the school wide expectations:
Be a Good Friend
Be Kind
Be Safe.
We feel our school community's KIndness!! We will continue to collect non perishable food this week. There is an orange box at drop off that you or your child can deposit your donation into. If your child takes a van, they can put their food donation into the box when they arrive.
This upcoming week will be a busy one!
We are looking forward to seeing all our families during the upcoming conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have not made a conference appointment, there is still time to register. If you are having trouble using the Google Links to register you can either reach out to your child's teacher or call the school office for help.
The annual Turkey Trot, sponsored by the Parent Council, will take place this week on Wednesday and Thursday. Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend. Parking will be limited to the grass on the backfield or on the street. This event will take place in the parking lot. Click on the link to access your child's scheduled time to attend this exciting event. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xC7fRTrw2oUeyYifuEG-adO-87OO2WAo016lakBb8LA/edit?usp=sharing
Students need to bring their Ipads to school this week.
We hope you enjoy the weekend!

- When in the parking lot there is a no idling policy. We ask that you shut off your car while waiting to drop off your child.
Health and Safety:
If your child is out for more than 3 consecutive days, you must have a doctor's note in order for your child to return to school. If you need to email Nurse Hilton her email is as follows:

We will be collecting for the Weymouth Food Pantry from Monday, November 7th through Friday November 18. If you would like to send in a non-perishable for the collection box, our Weymouth Families will greatly appreciate your donation!
Family Pictures
Bring your family picture to conference night and pin to the Family bulletin board. Our families are so important to us and our students love to proudly show us their family members.
Johnson ECC Staff attend Professional Development
The Johnson ECC staff participated in two trainings on Tuesday, The morning's presentation was with WPS Literacy Coach, Mrs. Melanson. She was able to provide Lively Letters training, which is a multi- sensory approach to teaching letters and their sounds in an engaging and developmentally thoughtful way.
In the afternoon, Mrs. Costa and Mrs. Magner presented to staff about creating Trauma Sensitive Classrooms. We know that trauma can impact a child's ability to learn. On Tuesday, the staff discussed best practices and spent time creating calm down corners in their classrooms. Students are learning how and why we may need to use calm down corners as a way to regulate our bodies and emotions.

Weymouth Child Family Community Center (CFCE)
The Weymouth Child Family Community Center and it's affiliated programs are funded by the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) grant from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and is administered by the Weymouth Public Schools.
The CFCE programs work to support all Weymouth families as their child's first teacher, develop community partnerships, and provide quality early educational experiences.
See the attached newsletter with links to the September calendar.
Parent Council
Parent Council is an amazing support to our Johnson ECC community. They help provide funding for Cultural Art Activities, support for STEM activities such as our aquarium, life cycle of the butterfly program, seeds and planting and support for teacher supplies in the classroom and many more initiatives.
