CME PTO Weekly

Back To School Night
We hope that you had as much fun at our Back To School Night event as we did, even with the weather delay! It was so great to see so many families enjoying the activities on the field and supporting the PTO through your purchases with Kona Ice and Crumbl. Thank you all for showing up!
We would love for you to share pics of your kids having fun @ coppermesayearbook@gmail.com with kiddo’s grades and names.
Congratulations to Mrs. Mackin's class with the highest percentage of attendance, 85%! They will get to enjoy a pizza party from the PTO to celebrate!
McDonald’s Spirit Lunch
Prepare your calendars for our first Spirit Day of the year! McDonald’s is a very generous partner and gives back 20% of ALL SALES during our lunch period, whether you mention Copper Mesa or not, so send all your family and friends to the McDonald’s by the Highlands Ranch library on August 28th, between 11am-2pm, and help us kickoff our fundraising for the year!
PTO Open House
Speaking of volunteering, we are currently looking for volunteers to help with teacher/staff appreciation, the daughter event, the son event, the yearbook committee, the fall fundraiser and the spring fundraiser. You can attend our PTO Open House on September 1st, at Spearwood Park, to get information about these events, or our first PTO meeting on September 2nd, if you can’t make the Open House. If you are unable to make either, but still want to help, please email us at cmeapto@gmail.com. All of the events that we put on for the school rely solely on volunteers, so if you are able to donate some time so that these events can happen, please do! We appreciate our volunteers so much!
SAVE THE DATE: 1st PTO MEETING
September 2nd @ 8:45am in the CME cafeteria
This is our Fall Grants meeting. Teachers/Staff have two opportunities throughout the year to submit grant requests to the PTO. This includes anything from supplement curriculum, supplies for the classroom, field trips, tools for teachers/staff etc. We will be reviewing the grants submitted for the fall semester.
We (CME PTO) are able to provide funds for all these requests through our fundraisers!
We will also be going over the available volunteer opportunities as well as discussing our Fall Fundraiser, the Ninja Cougar Challenge!
Help us plan this year's SON Event!
One of Copper Mesa's most exciting events of the year is coming back, and we need YOUR ideas to make it amazing! We're ready to bring back our annual Son Event, but we want to hear what our Copper Mesa families think would be the most fun.
Do you have a creative idea, a fun activity, an awesome theme, or something completely new we should try? We want to hear it!
Put on your thinking caps, get creative, and help us make this year's Son Event one our Cougars won't forget!
Send us your ideas!
Fill out this FORM and let us know your ideas!
Yearbook Photo Volunteers
We are also in search of parent reps for each classroom to help take pictures for our yearbook. If you are signed up to volunteer for class parties, Thursday folders, or field trips, this is a great opportunity for you to support the PTO! While you are already in the school or with the class, help us gather photos for the yearbook. Sign up for a classroom HERE
CME Garden Project
Things are starting to fall into place with the Outdoor Learning Garden project! The biggest update is that Home Depot approved our grant and is going to generously donate more than $10,000 worth of supplies for the space. We have scheduled a workday on Tuesday, September 22 from 9 AM - 3 PM in which they will provide a team of experts to help us level the space, build a beautiful pathway, install irrigation, and plant more than 140 native plants and fruit trees.
The plants and fruit trees have been generously donated by Resource Central, the DCSD Office of Sustainability, and the Douglas County Conservation District.
The Girl Scouts were so excited to present the plans for the garden to the teachers this past week as part of their Silver Award Project! Kate and Kylie gifted them with two gardening kits, three outdoor investigation kits, and sample outdoor lesson plans that can be checked out of the science room throughout the year.
Our next step is to recruit volunteers for the Home Depot workday. We know that a weekday is not ideal, but that's when Home Depot has team members available to help with materials, expertise, and hands-on support.
Many employers offer paid volunteer time, community service days, or VTO (Volunteer Time Off), so we are hoping some parents will be able to join us for a 2-3 hour shift that day.
Here is a link to the Signup Genius if you would like to join us in making this brand new garden space a reality! Thank you in advance!
Mrs Burke’s Art Room Wish List
Thank you to everyone who has already donated to the art room. It makes such a difference for Mrs. Burke, and the kids get all the benefits (not to mention our shelves and fridges, when the art pieces come home)! There are a few things left on her Wish List, if you are inclined to help out. Thank you so much!

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Ongoing
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.
The purpose of the program:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
Sign up to volunteer HERE . Please direct any questions about the program to Jeff Stebel, (303) 880-8224, jeffrey.stebel@gmail.com
COPPER MESA YEARBOOK
Help us create a memorable yearbook by sharing your pictures with our yearbook committee. This can be at school events, spirit rock, class parties, class field trips, school clubs, etc. Please email photos to coppermesayearbook@gmail.com and include your child’s name and teacher.
KING SOOPERS CARDS
One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year our total donation received is in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so, it’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
