Elementary Update
So many awesome things already taking place here at Smithton Elementary! Kind students looking out for their classmates, kiddos celebrating the successes of their friends, classes working together to meet goals... and so much more! Our teachers are doing a wonderful job of focusing on the positive. In one classroom students putting forth great effort and meeting expectations have a special seat for the week, in another there are Thoughtful Thursday activities during Tiger Time. On Friday I observed a T.G.I.F. activity where students highlighted what they Tried , what they were Grateful for, What Inspired them, and what was Fun for them this week! I just can't say enough about the great things happening here in our elementary! A big shoutout to all the teachers that go above and beyond each day to create meaningful learning experiences for our Tigers!
A few reminders:
Tuesday night we will have our Ice Cream Social. We hope everyone can come Get the Scoop! It's sure to be a great time!
This week we noticed a significant decrease in transportation changes. We thank you kindly for being attentive and establishing consistent afternoon routines for our kiddos. When our elementary students have consistent predictable schedules we find them less confused about where they go and what they need to do at the end of the day. Therefore, our dismissal is far more efficient and overall much safer!
Lastly, we need all parents picking up elementary students to do so via the parent pick up line on Coombs street. Please do not park and exit your vehicle unless you are entering the building. We begin dismissing car riders right at 3:00. While the line appears significant, we typically have all cars loaded by 3:06. Again, we need everyone to remain in their vehicle. If you don't have a car tag, please call the elementary office and let us know. Name tags placed in the passenger windshield allow us to load students faster.
We thank you for your support and cooperation as we are always working to grow and improve as a district.
Rooms Communication is finally here...
If you did not receive an email, please let us know as we are working to get this platform fully implemented. We hope to be able to provide more information at Tuesday night's Get the Scoop event.
