Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More!
Week of February 2, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Converse ES All-Star Community,
It is with a mix of emotions that I share some personal news with our school family. Due to recent life changes within my immediate family, I find it necessary to shift my professional focus so that I can devote more immediate time and support to those closest to me. Because of this, I will be stepping down from my role as Principal, with my last day on campus being February 13, 2026.
I will be sharing this news with students during the next two student assemblies over the next two weeks; however, please feel free to share this information with your child sooner if you feel it is best for them to hear it from you first.
Leading this school over the last two years has been a profound honor. Thank you for trusting me with your children and for allowing me to be a part of their educational journey. It has been a joy to watch our students grow, and I have truly loved leading this incredible school.
During this transition, Converse Elementary will be under the capable direction of Assistant Principal Schumacher. I have full confidence in her leadership; she is a dedicated educator who leads with a great heart, and I know she will continue to guide our school toward success.
Thank you for your understanding and support as I make this transition for my family. Our All-Star community will always hold a special place in my heart.
Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More!
Sincerely,
Miriam Huerta
Converse ES Principal

It’s that time again for our Converse Elementary Cereal Domino Drive, and we need your help!
From February 2 - March 20, we will collect unopened boxes of cereal for the San Antonio Food Bank. Then, on Friday, March 20, we will use every donated box to create an insanely long cereal-box domino run throughout the school.
Last year, our domino line started at the top of the main staircase and wrapped all the way around the gym, even doubling up in some areas. While nothing compares to being there and feeling the excitement in person, you can watch the video from last year's event here so you can see just how fun it really is.
When we first began this project, we collected 750 boxes. Last year, we surpassed that with over 900 boxes—an incredible accomplishment. This year, we’re hoping to donate 900 more to support families in need.
As the collection period begins, five red barrels will be placed at the school entrance so students won’t need to carry donations to class.
If you are able and willing to contribute, your generosity would be greatly appreciated. Together, we can make a difference—and have a blast doing it.
Let’s have fun while helping those in need!

Restorative Corner
Building a Bridge Between Home and School
Dear Families,
We know that for a student to truly thrive, they need to feel supported in two places: at home and in the classroom. As our school’s Restorative Practitioner, I want to emphasize that our partnership with you is the foundation of your child’s success.
Why Connection Matters
The "Safety Net": When children see their teachers and parents working together, they feel a sense of security that allows them to focus on learning.
Unified Support: When we have a strong relationship, we can address challenges early and celebrate wins together.
Consistency: A restorative culture means we focus on solving problems and learning from mistakes, both at school and at home.
Simple Ways to Connect With Us
Share the Small Stuff: Let us know if your child had a rough night or is particularly excited about something. It helps us meet them where they are.
Open Dialogue: If you have a concern, reach out. We’d rather have a conversation early than a complication later.
Celebrate Together: We want to hear about your child's successes outside of school, too!
We aren’t just teaching your children; we are partnering with you to raise the next generation of leaders. Thank you for trusting us with your scholars.

Character Trait Of The Month
Throughout the year, staff will be recognizing students who demonstrate different character traits each month. At the end of each month, teachers will select one student from their class who has best exemplified that month's trait to be celebrated and awarded a certificate in recognition of their character.
February's Character Trait: Fairness
This February at Converse, we are focusing on Fairness. We often tell our students that fairness isn't everyone getting the same thing, but everyone getting what they need to be successful.
You can help reinforce this at home by looking for "Fairness Champions" in your family! Encourage your child to:
Listen to All Sides: When a disagreement happens with a sibling or friend, give everyone a chance to speak before deciding what to do.
Share the Load: Practice fairness by divvying up chores or responsibilities around the house so everyone contributes.
Play Fair: Whether it’s a board game or a sport, emphasize that following the rules is more important than winning.
Consider Others: Ask, "How would you feel if that happened to you?" to help develop a sense of justice and empathy.
When children see fairness modeled at home, they bring that spirit of inclusion and respect back to our classrooms!
