METCO Newsletter

Bedford METCO | September 2025 | Week 9/8

METCONewsletterBedford METCO | September 2025 | Week 9/8

Dear METCO Families,

We are excited to welcome you back to a brand new school year! It was such a joy to see our students last week catching up with friends, smiling, and easing back into the rhythm of school life. One of the things we love most at this time of year is noticing how much our students have grown and matured over the summer. In just a few short months, they come back taller, wiser, and ready to take on new challenges.

This year, we are looking forward to watching our students thrive not only in their academics but also in their ability to learn from mistakes, problem-solve, and grow into even stronger versions of themselves.

Our Newsletter as a Communication Hub
This newsletter will be our primary tool for communication throughout the year. Here, you will find updates on:

  • Bus information and schedules

  • School and community events

  • METCO program activities and updates

Bus Information
We are continuing to work closely with Bedford Charter on fine tuning bus schedules. In the meantime, we ask for your flexibility and support by making sure your child is at the bus stop early for both morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off.

Additionally, we have included the Late Bus Schedule, which officially begins today. Please review it carefully so your child knows their transportation options after school.

As always, thank you for your partnership and unwavering support of the Bedford METCO Program. We are so grateful to share this journey with you and your children.

Warmly,
The Bedford METCO Team

Bedford Day

Welcome back to school! As everyone settles in to a new school year, the Parents Diversity Council's first big event will be a booth at Bedford Day on September 20. Bedford Day is Bedford's huge town festival, starting with a road race at 8:30 AM, a parade at 10:30 (DPW trucks and marching bands and local organizations and so much candy!), then a fair from 10 to 2, with booths, games, activities, and food. The event is free and open to all - for more info, click here.

At the PDC booth, we will have a parent creating henna designs for $5 as a fundraiser for our activities this year. Come get some henna or just say hi if you come to Bedford Day. Volunteers at our booth are also needed - sign up here. Email pdcbedford@gmail.com if you have any questions about Bedford Day.

Multicultural Potluck

Save the Date - October 23! New this year will be a multicultural potluck for Davis families, in partnership with BEST PTO. This after school event will allow families to bring in dishes representing their country or culture to share with other families, and/or host booths to share some games or facts about their culture with others. More details coming soon.

Family Bowling Party

Back by popular demand! We are exploring dates - possible November/Dec or early spring - and will share how to sign up later in the fall. If you have a preference to party on a Saturday in late fall vs. early spring, let us know! And please feel free to share other ideas for social events - pdcbedford@gmail.com.

Back To School Nights

Thursday, October 9 - Back to School Night - Kindergarten and Preschool 6:00-6:45 (Students and caregiver)

Over the past couple of years we have tried to make our Back to School nights more informative and engaging. This year we are asking you to come with your children and let them be the leaders to show you the spaces in which they are settling in! Throughout the fall we will share more information about curriculum and what to expect this year. During the Back to School Night, classrooms will have more information for you to see and learn about. Later we will have a more in depth opportunity to hear about our Literacy program.
