Scottsville's Tuesday Tiger Times
February 3, 2026
Thank our Custodians!
Tim Pruett, our new Lead Custodian, and Wanda Davidson worked tirelessly to help ensure our parking lots and sidewalks were ready to welcome children tomorrow! They deserve a heroic shout-out (and warm coffee/cocoa) for all their efforts! Please thank them when you see them.
Celebrate Kindness/ School Counseling Week
Black History Month
This February, Scottsville Elementary is proud to celebrate Black History Month. To honor this important time, we will be featuring a different local or historical leader during our morning announcements throughout the month. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about the incredible contributions and legacies of individuals who have shaped our community and our nation. We are excited to embark on this month of learning and inspiration together!
We are also thrilled to welcome back Lillie Williams on Friday, February 13. After a schoolwide morning meeting, she will dance, sing, and share stories with all grade levels during their Essentials Time.
Report Cards Now Available
Also all families are getting paper copies of quarterly assessment reports for students in grades 3, 4, and 5.
4th Grade Community Field Trip!
Fourth Grade had a special field trip before the "snowcation" -- to the Keene Recycling Center and Scottsville Town Council.
At the Recycling Center, Ginny shared, “I liked figuring out where the recycling goes,” while Silas added, “The relay race made learning fun!” As Ed Brooks explained in his newsletter, students were welcomed with engaging games, hands-on sorting challenges, and a relay race—an exciting way to introduce this important community resource. The visit also served as a prelude to the Southern Albemarle Roadside Trash Cleanup Day on Saturday, March 7th, now in its sixth consecutive year, an event the community is invited to join. Dante shared he had helped with the community clean up day last year!
At the Town Council, students modeled a community meeting with Juju serving as Town Council President. Classmates shared community member shared a concerned about cats and her allergies. The mock board members, president, and our student community members worked together on a solution to find a solution and . Juju enjoyed using the mallet to call for a vote and shared, “I liked being the president because I got to listen to everyone and help decide what to do.”
Student Opportunities
Family Survey
We are fortunate to be a Title I school, which brings valuable resources to our campus—including free meals for every student and an extra reading specialist to support our Tigers. We have also received funds to purchase writing materials for all families for our upcoming Reading Night in March!
To demonstrate our family engagement (and show the value of these benefits), please take a moment to provide anonymous feedback via the survey below. Your voice ensures we continue to provide what our students need and deserve: Title I Family Survey
This survey is going to all Title I schools, and we'd love for Scottsville to have the highest response rate.
