News from Mr. Duncan

Dear Willowdale Families,

Last week we invited our Kindergarten students to Willowdale for Jump Start. We had a great time together preparing for the upcoming school year! Now we are preparing to invite ALL of our Wildcats into the building for School Fest this coming Monday!

School Fest is our annual Open House here at Willowdale. Class lists will be posted on our front doors by noon on Monday, August 10th. That evening from 4:30-6:00, join us for School Fest to meet your child's teacher, drop off school supplies, and more! New this year we will have a scavenger hunt that students can complete to earn a prize! Kona Ice will also be available for purchase on the blacktop if families would like a shaved ice treat! We hope to see you there!

Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 12th. Teachers and staff will exit the front doors at 8:10 to meet students on the front patio. Teachers will bring their classes inside once they have their full roster OR at the 8:20 bell, whichever comes first.

Enjoy the final moments of summer break in the coming days! We can’t wait to see everyone back next week!

Important Message-Please Read!

Dear Elementary Parents and Guardians,

We are writing to inform you of an update to our district's mobile device policy, in alignment with recent changes in Nebraska state law (LB140), which requires all school boards to have a policy restricting student cell phone use. While our district has had a policy in place, this update serves to further clarify expectations for our students.

Starting this fall, students in elementary schools may not use mobile devices, including cell phones and smartwatches, during the school day—from the time they arrive until the end of the day. If devices are sent to school, they will be kept off and stored in backpacks or other designated areas during school hours.

This update was made following thoughtful input from parents, staff, and students and is designed to support student focus and comply with state law. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your child.

SCHOOLFEST 2026-2027

The Willowdale Tradition continues. Class lists will be posted on the front doors of Willowdale, at noon, on Monday, August 10th. Those class lists will stay up all day on Monday. AND, we hope to see all of you Monday night, 4:30-6:00PM, for SchoolFest. See the below information for all the details!
