Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
February 11, 2022
We had a packed week here at the Lab! This week we celebrated Mrs. Kiewe for National School Counseling Week. We also celebrated our representative for BCPS Teacher of the Year - Mrs. Nicholson!
This week we also met with Grade Level Teams to celebrate student progress and growth and plan next steps to continue to move learning forward. The graph to the right captures the reduction in primary students needing "Intensive" support and "strategic" support respectively from the beginning of the year (green) to the middle of the year (blue). This is huge progress and great credit to our kindergarten, first grade, and second grade teachers and support staff for their efforts.
Also this week, some of our Leopard artists were also recently published in the Superintendent's virtual gallery for the central! Congratulations to Wamia, Ar'Miya, Nora, and Ayla!
We have another big week on tap with the Scholastic Book Fair! Student are able to buy books when they visit the library during their normal special area time. They can purchase through e-wallet or cash. Please only send cash on the day-of the book fair, we cannot hold cash overnight at school. Family shopping can only take place during the Tuesday and Thursday shopping hours. Please do not come to shop during the school day. More on the book fair below.
If you have not done so already, please take the BCPS Stakeholder Survey! This provides vital input on how our community perceives our efforts to serve your children well. This is an integral piece in School Improvement Planning. Thank you for taking a few minutes to share.

Mrs. Nicholson -- Teacher of the Year!
We were able to surprise Mrs. Nicholson with the whole 5th grade when she picked students up from lunch on Wednesday. She will represent Lutherville for BCPS Teacher of the Year.
BCPS Stakeholder Survey
We value the input and perspective of our community -- each summer our school team analyzes your input through the stakeholder survey to identify strengths and consider how we can improve our programming. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and help us continue to improve.
The brief online survey is available on the BCPS website from January 31 through Friday, March 4, 2022. The survey is available in multiple languages. Information from this survey will help BCPS understand how to best support all stakeholders and to improve student and organizational performance. The survey feedback is also used by schools to refine School Progress Plans as well as by BCPS to measure progress toward goals in The Compass strategic plan.

Kids Heart Challenge-
It’s almost time for the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge! Donations are due by next Friday, February 18th. Please turn all cash donations into a check made payable to the American Heart Association.
Our school is doing an amazing job and has raised close to $4,000 for the American Heart Association. Students participating will join our “Kids Heart Challenge” special event during the school day the week of Feb 22-25. Students will get moving with fun activities, learn about keeping their hearts and brains healthy and feel great about helping others. We appreciate you helping us fight heart disease and stroke.
