• Plano East has an annual Red Out Week in partnership with the Living For Zachary organization. Zachary Shrah was a Plano East football player that unexpectedly died from a heart condition.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In Plano ISD, we believe that kindness and courage should guide how we treat one another. That is why we are launching our Kindness & Upstander Campaign this October during National Bullying Prevention Month.

What Is an Upstander? An upstander is someone who recognizes when something is wrong and chooses to act, especially when they see someone being bullied or excluded. Unlike a bystander who sees bullying but stays silent, an upstander speaks up with kindness and confidence, stands by the person being hurt and tells a trusted adult when needed.

Why It Matters: Children who are taught to be upstanders build empathy and courage, help create a safer and more welcoming school, and are more likely to seek help when they need to. Our goal is to empower students to model respect, show compassion, and stand up for what is right, whether that is addressing bullying, shutting down unkind behavior, or supporting a classmate in need.

Here is how you can partner with us at home:

• Talk with your child about what it means to be an upstander, not a bystander.

• Celebrate acts of kindness your child shows to others.

• Encourage your child to use their voice when they see something that is not right.

• Visit the Plano ISD website for district guidance on addressing bullying, harassment and all forms of hate

Together, we can create a culture of respect and courage that will carry our students through school and into life. Thank you for partnering with us to model the values we want for all our children.

equirements for National Honor Society membership at Plano East:

· You must be in 10th grade or above.

· You must have a minimum 3.6 cumulative GPA.

· Your academic, attendance, and disciplinary status must be in good standing.

For this year, due to underlying circumstances, we will be implementing a flat 20-hour requirement for the entire year. This means that by the end of the year (before our induction ceremony), you must have at least 20 service hours. This also means that there is no strict minimum on the # of hours that need to be completed by the end of the first semester. However, you must ensure you fulfill all the other criteria above throughout the entire year.

Linked below is the registration form and chapter website. Fees this year will be separated into membership and t-shirts (if you would like one). There is a t-shirt option on the form to gauge interest.

The State Fair of Texas extends a special distcount to all 9th - 12th graders in Texas. Those eligible can purchase special $12 Monday - Thursday 1-day admisstion tickets-that is a $7 savings.

Attention to students in classes associated with AP Classroom,

Whether you have an existing College Board account or are creating a new account make sure the email address on file is your PISD student email. You cannot use your personal email or phone number on your college board account. If you have any question your AP teachers can help walk you through this process. There is a google slides presentation that goes step by step they can share with you. This is necessary for you to be able to continue to access AP classroom throughout the school year as well as for AP testing. You can find more information here.

Student route information for eligible students will be available for parents on Wednesday, August 6th. To access student bus route information, parents must utilize the student’s Skyward account. Select the Transportation tab and choose the bus stop for specifics.

Plano East has a student handbook that will help guide students and families in all the important things to know to have a successful year. Please view the handbook here.

• In order for meal benefits to continue, a federal meal application for the 25-26 school year must be completed.
• Students with no application on file after 30 operating days will return to full-paid eligibility status effective September 25th.
• All Households that have previously submit a federal meal application for free or reduced-priced meals need to reapply.
• Households who wish to apply will need to complete an online federal meal application for the current school year.
• Applications will be processed within 10 business days.
• Eligibility notification letters will be sent via email.

Plano East PTSA presents the 2025 Reflections Program

The arts – and the National PTA Reflections program – support student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in your school community. Celebrate arts learning in your school community with Reflections.

About Reflections

Refelctions has been a staple arts program in many schools for 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAS millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.
