This will be the last family newsletter until after Thanksgiving break. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to be the principal at New Buffalo Elementary! I have loved every moment of getting to work with your children and for the valuable learning that has taken place during the first few months of school. I hope you get to spend time with your families celebrating all of the things you have to be thankful for!

According to US News, New Buffalo Elementary is ranked #36 out of 1, 492 elementary schools in the state of Michigan! This is a testament to all of the hard work of the staff and students at NBES. Congratulations!

Is your child missing any clothing items? Our lost and found at school is getting pretty full. This includes clothing, jackets, water bottles, and many more items. Please have your child check the lost and found for any missing items. It is located outside of the art room.

Thanksgiving break will take place from November 27- December 1. Attendance at school is so important for your child's learning. Please let your child's teacher and the office know if they will be absent.

The holiday shop will be the week of 12/9 (shopping days Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) the PTO will be seeking volunteers during class shopping times and a sign up will be sent out soon.

Sickness season is in full swing! We are encouraging lots of handwashing at school. If your child is sick, contact Mrs. Bowen at 269-469-6069 to inform the office of their absence. Below are some tips for helping keep your child healthy.

The word of the month for November is Gratitude

This month we will focus on teaching students how to show gratitude at school. At the end of the month, each class will have a gratitude winner that will receive a donut from Mrs. Haskins to celebrate being respectful.
