Nevada Reading Week March 4-8, 2024
Nevada Reading Week will be the week of March 4, 2024. Here are the events:
Monday (3/4) - Magical Forest Day!
We are kicking off our week with a Lost in the Magical Forest Day! Students are encouraged to think of what you would dress like if you were in a Once Upon a Time magical story or a character in an enchanted forest. Examples: dragons, unicorns, prince or princess, gnomes, fairies, fairy tale friends, or forest animals. Please help your child earn a prize and a chance to win a book by completing the Feed Your Brain tickets this week!
Tuesday (3/5) - Words On A Shirt Day
Wear a shirt with as many words as you can…the student in each class wearing the shirt with the most words will win a prize. Homemade shirts are permitted. Please ensure language on shirts is appropriate for school. (Students should count how many words are on their shirt before arriving at school.)Wednesday (3/6) - Books Alive Day!
Have fun dressing as your favorite BOOK character or dressing to represent your favorite BOOK! To participate, students must carry around a book with the character or theme featured in it during the school day. Feel free to stop by the library before Wednesday and check out a book if needed. (First come, first served!)
Thursday (3/7) - Magical World of Disney
Show the magic we feel when reading about or watching our favorite magical Disney characters and their stories by wearing your favorite Disney shirt, hat, or outfit today.
Friday (3/8) - Magical Grade Level Color Spirit Day
Wear the colors of your grade level to celebrate an amazing Reading Week! See below for your grade level assigned color.
PreK - Kindergarten = Yellow, 1st = Green, 2nd = Orange, 3rd = Pink, 4th = Blue, 5th = Purple
Today is also Flashlight reading day. Send your child with a small flashlight to read with today. All Feed Your Brain tickets are due today to qualify for the Reading Week Prize and book drawings!

For the week ending March 1, 2024, student attendance rates were:
- Pre-K: 92.0%
- Kinder: 86.0%
- Grade 1: 89.1%
- Grade 2: 89.6%
- Grade 3: 88.6%
- Grade 4: 85.3%
- Grade 5: 93.4%
- Whole School: 89.2%
Regular school attendance is critical for student learning and achievement. Avoidable absences negatively impact a student's progress, and we appreciate families getting students to school on time each and every school day! Make Today Matter!
