Stewart Parent Star Report
August 14, 2026
Dear Stewart Elementary Community,
The school year is here. We can't wait to see everyone on Tuesday for Back To School Night Open House. Please be sure to check out the PTA table. PTA will have their General Meeting at 6:30 pm and we invite all to be a part of the meeting.
Thursday is the first day of school for all students. We will meet out back behind the school. Please find your teacher name and line up behind it. We will then do the pledge and then come in all together. Parents will not be coming into the building with us so please be sure to take all of your pictures and give your hugs out back.
Parking will be extremely limited because of the construction. Please read the update below.
Here are the things you need to know for the week.
- Please log into myDSD and make sure that you have signed all available documents.
- You can purchase a yearbook and Device Protection now in myDSD. Device protection is available until September 20.
- Community Council applications are now available. Please email your application to Principal Yoho (mdaly@dsdmail.net) by August 21 at 4pm.
- Stewart Swag shop is now open. All students will be getting a school shirt with this year's theme. But if you want additional swag you can get it at https://offsideapparel.com/stewartelem/shop/home
- We are looking for one more person to join our team in the SIPPS Intervention Room. Please reach out to Principal Yoho if you are interested.

Sincerely,
Michelle Yoho and Laura Campbell
Principal and Administrative Intern, Stewart Elementary
Construction Update
As you are aware, there is a significant amount of construction taking place around our school. We have been informed that this work will continue for at least another month. During this time, we are asking for everyone’s cooperation and patience as we work together to keep our students, families, and staff safe while arriving at and leaving school.
Whenever possible, we strongly encourage students to walk to and from school rather than being dropped off or picked up by car.
If driving is necessary, please follow these temporary traffic procedures:
- All vehicles should enter the school parking lot from the north.
- When exiting the parking lot, vehicles must turn south (right turn only). We are unable to accommodate left turns out of the parking lot at this time.
- Please avoid making a left turn from Main Street into the school parking lot. Due to the construction, this will be very difficult and may create significant traffic congestion.
- If you are driving your student and cannot use the designated traffic pattern, please park on a nearby side street or at the LDS Church south of Chase Lane and walk from there using a safe route.
- Students are welcome to use the Kidde Walk in the west of the school (1200 North) to arrive and leave.
These temporary restrictions will be in place for Back-to-School Night as well as the first days of school and will continue as needed during construction.
We know these changes may require some extra time and planning, and we greatly appreciate your patience, cooperation, and flexibility. By following these procedures, we can help reduce congestion and, most importantly, ensure that everyone arrives at and leaves school safely.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe!

Save Your Pull Tabs
Way to go, Stewart Stars! A huge THANK YOU to our amazing Stewart families and students for donating pull tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. Ms Yoho had the opportunity to deliver your generous donation, and they were so grateful for your support!
The pull tabs are recycled, and the recycling company matches the donation to help provide meals and other support for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House during difficult times. This kindness truly makes a difference.
Now let’s set a new goal… Can we fill TWO tubs this year? Keep those pull tabs coming, Stewart Stars! Together, we can Make It Matter!
