York High School Weekly Memo
Some thoughts for the starting school year

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are having a wonderful week. We had our first really cold days earlier this week, so it has been nice to have some warmer temperatures (yay for 32 degrees today).
We will be having a (Holiday) Spirit Week next week (and the two days the following week) to celebrate the holiday season, have some fun, and commemorate our last few days together before 2026. Please check out the flyer below and join us for some (or all) of the dress-up days. Enjoy the rest of your week, and if you have any questions or need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thanks,
Amanda
SPIRIT (of the season) WEEK
This week, York High School is thrilled to shine a spotlight on senior Brady Holmes, a truly exceptional student whose dedication to academics and innate curiosity make him an inspiration to all. As a standout member of both our math team and Science Olympiad team, teachers laud him as an "intuitive" learner. Math teacher, Matt Convery, says, “Brady doesn't just solve problems, he dives into them, embracing holistic challenges and complexities of the question at hand.” His true passion lies in the learning process itself, making every class and day full of potential discovery.
Brady’s schedule this semester reflects his advanced commitment to STEM fields, currently tackling our most challenging courses, including AP physics, AP calculus, AP chemistry, and AP research. Furthermore, he is expanding his education outside the traditional classroom by pursuing an extended learning opportunity in engineering, gaining valuable real-world experience. Brady’s enthusiasm and drive set a high standard for academic excellence at YHS, and we are honored to congratulate him on being named our Student of the Week!
Erin Fell Gear
Every 4th of the month, we remember and recognize Erin Fell, our student who passed away last school year, by wearing her favorite colors -- purple and pink. If you are looking to purchase your own gear, please use this link, and know that a portion of every sale will be donated to the York Public Library in honor of Erin, following the wishes of her family.

If you have any questions about the events listed below, please reach out to your student's school counselor for more information.
College Rep Visits
College rep visits are starting up, and they'll be held in person or virtually this year. These visits are a great chance to talk with college representatives about their campuses and what they offer. Sometimes, the reps you meet with are the same admission counselors who will be reviewing your application!
There are many colleges and universities visiting, so be sure to check out all the available slots in Naviance. For virtual visits, it's important to be in a quiet space so you can have a clear conversation.
Juniors and seniors can sign up and reserve their spot through Naviance by clicking on the "What's new" window on your Naviance home page. If you need a quiet place to participate, please let Student Services know ahead of time. If you have any questions, please reach out to us in Student Services.
