RILEY RECAP - VOLUME 4 ISSUE 3
AUGUST 7 2024
From the Desk of Principal Henderson
Dear Riley Parents, Guardians, and Scholars:
Welcome Back Wildcats,
We are so excited to see your bright faces on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Please make sure you are ready to grow and learn as our motto this school year is Family over Everything. We want to put a strong emphasis on community and family. As you enter Riley, our primary goal is to guide you in the right direction to reach your full potential. Therefore, I hope you are getting the rest you need as we are a few weeks away from the start of the 2024-25 school year.
WE WILL RAISE THE BAR AT RILEY!
I am looking forward to working with you and your student as we work toward an academically and social emotional successful school year. I can promise you the best of myself for your students each and every day. Please do not hesitate to contact me at shenderson2@sbcsc.k12.in.us if you have any questions or concerns during the year.
Our Goals:
1) Get students reading on grade level
2) A 95% attendance rate
3) A 90% graduation rate
We greatly appreciate the value that each and every one of our scholars and families brings to Riley. WE ARE THE PRIDE OF THE SOUTHSIDE! WE ARE #RILEYSTRONG!
Sincerely,
Shawn Henderson

IMPORTANT BUSING UPDATE FOR 24/25
SBCSC Transporation has begun updating the procedures for transporting students in the 24/25 SY and beyond. We will try our best to answer questions for families below:
Students in the 10th-12th grade who have been at Riley from out of our boundary lines will continue to receive bus transportation until they graduate or leave Riley.
Any students who attended Clay HS in 2023-2024 SY will be bussed to the school they attend this Fall.
Bussing will be provided for 9th grade students ONLY if they are within the Riley boundary lines.
Students coming into Riley (9th Grade) who have a sibling ALREADY ENROLLED at Riley, will receive bussing until the older family member graduates or leaves Riley.
Incoming 9th Grade Magnet Students (Computer Science, Engineering, Performing Arts) WILL receive bussing to Riley if they live outside the Riley Boundary.
If you live outside of the Riley boundary and do not receive transportation, we encourage those students and families to use City Transpo (High School students can ride for free).
- For clarification, Transpo only operates within the city limits.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Hardman (joryhardman@sbcsc.k12.in.us)
