Dear Bixby School Parents/Guardians:

In April, we celebrated Autism Awareness Month. Staff and students wore blue to show their support and promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion throughout our school community. Our PTO did an excellent job hosting Coin Wars, and the students truly enjoyed participating while supporting a great cause. Congratulations to our kindergarten students for winning!

As we look ahead to May, we are excited for many upcoming events. Field Day is just around the corner and is always a favorite for our students. Please keep an eye on your child’s folder for important details and reminders.

In June, we look forward to celebrating our Week of the Arts, where students will have the opportunity to express their creativity. As a reminder, students should bring in a white T-shirt for this special week. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a positive and engaging place for all students.

Each month the students of Bixby School work very hard to win either the character education award or the student of the month award. For the character education award, students were chosen who display qualities of caring. The students receive certificates of achievement, an Applebee's gift certificate and a picture with the principal. Each class selects two students monthly to win this award. Congratulations to ALL!

The character trait for April will be Leadership

We are pleased to announce Ms. Schiavello as our Educator of the Year. As a second grade teacher, she is an exceptional educator who consistently goes above and beyond to support her students, colleagues, and school community. Ms. Schiavello creates a warm, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and motivated to learn. Her dedication to meeting the diverse needs of her students is evident in her thoughtful planning, engaging instruction, and her ability to build strong, meaningful relationships.

Ms. Mejia, our kindergarten teacher, is a deserving Staff Member of the Month. She is caring, helpful, and builds strong relationships with her students, creating a warm and supportive classroom. A true team player, she collaborates well with staff and brings creativity, energy, and thoughtfulness to her work. Ms. Mejia goes above and beyond for her students and truly makes Bixby a better place.

Ms. Peralta is a deserving Paraprofessional of the Month. She is always helpful to all students and provides outstanding support to our kindergarten classes. In addition to her classroom contributions, she is an excellent bus aide who helps ensure arrival and dismissal run smoothly each day. Ms. Peralta is caring, nurturing, and incredibly patient with the students she supports. Her passion for working with children shines through in everything she does, making her a valued member of our school community.

May 22- Single Session

• Preschool students are dismissed at 12:30 and K-2 students are dismissed at 12:50.

May 25- No School

The PTO is a group of parents, teachers and staff who are dedicated to making sure our students have enriched opportunities while attending Bixby school. The PTO has provided financial support for field trips, teacher appreciation week gifts/treats, laser light shows, and much more! By being a PAID registered member, you are indicating to us that you want to join with us in our mission to enrich the lives of ALL Bixby students.

The next PTO meeting will be May 13th at 7pm in the Media Center. A virtual link will be sent the day of the meeting.
