Smithfield Elementary
October 2026
Message from the Principal!
It is hard to believe we are already cruising into October! Our students have settled beautifully into their daily routines, and I have loved seeing their hard work and growing friendships during my daily classroom visits.
As the autumn weather cools down, please ensure your child comes to school wearing appropriate outerwear for outdoor recess. This month is packed with community events, parent-teacher partnerships, and seasonal activates. Thank you for your continued collaboration and support in making our school a wonderful place to learn!
Please make sure to read our monthly newsletters and check our school website and Dojo for important updates and announcements.
We also encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher or the front office if you ever have any questions or concerns (570) 421-2841.

The Reading Nook
Welcome, October!
The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and there are wonderful stories waiting to be discovered! Reading together at home—even for a few minutes—helps children build confidence, vocabulary, understanding, and a lifelong love of books. This month, make reading part of your cozy fall routine.
October Reading Challenge
Color the pumpkin after you complete each activity. Complete all of the reading activities and return to Mrs. Agolino or Mrs. Falbo for a fun Fall surprise.
Paper copies of the challenge will be coming home this week. A copy of the challenge can also be found here.
