Message from Lincolnwood Leadership
Hello Superstar Families-
Thanks again to all of you who were able to make it to school for Curriculum Night. If you were not able to attend, teachers have been sending out their slideshows and our admin slideshow is HERE. In addition, our educators are very excited to meet with you for family-educator conferences - please do not forget to sign up for an in-person or virtual conference.
22 of you have filled out the anonymous two-question Lincolnwood "Planning for the Future" Reflection survey that we shared at Curriculum Night and your answers are so thoughtful and helpful for us. It is not too late for you to complete the survey and we greatly appreciate your feedback.
One thing that stood out in the survey responses that have come in thus far is the desire for in-person events for our community. Thanks to our fantastic PTA, we have several of these coming up - including tomorrow's Superstar Scramble for kids and adults! See below for details.
Thanks for reading this newsletter and reaching out with any questions!

Laura & Kojo

This event is a Superstar Social---it's primary purpose is to bring our community together, and its secondary purpose is to raise money for our public schools! When you register, you have an option to make a donation at the level of your choice, or you can attend at no cost and enjoy a fun night with families in your community! Your presence is the most important thing! Money collected through Superstar Social sign-ups goes to PEP One Fund to support Lincolnwood School and all schools in D65.
Date Change! We are moving the date of our next PTA meeting to Tuesday, 10/20/26. As usual we will meet at 7pm in the school library, or you will be able to join remotely via zoom. (Zoom link will be shared the morning of the meeting.)

SCHOOL EVENTS & UPDATES
SUPERSTAR SCRAMBLE - 9/27/26!
When? Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 8:30AM to 11:00AM
Where? Lincolnwood Grounds
What is a Superstar Scramble?! There are two events!
- An invigorating 5K walk/run/move-n-groove around our beautiful attendance area for all willing participants (adults and kids)(entrance fee is $30); and
- A fun kid-only one-mile event for all students/children in our community around school grounds and Perkins Woods! Entrance is free for all kids but registration is required.
The 5K starts at 9am and the one-mile event starts around 10am both on the Grant side of Lincolnwood. We will be staggering the start of the one-miler by grade levels.
We hope to see you all! Register or come out to cheer on our participants and be part of this wonderful community building event! Our goal is for everyone to participate in whatever way you are able and comfortable. Please share this link with family and friends! All are welcome.
Please consider registering for the events (kids one-miler or 5k), sponsor the event or submit a voluntary donation of any amount to help the Lincolnwood PTA meet our fundraising goals this year. Participants will also have the chance to share their individual fundraising pages with friends and family to boost donations!
Registration: In order to register for the one-mile dash and 5K events, please click on the SIGN UP button. All participants (kids and adults) must be registered to receive an event t-shirt! Shirt sizes will be asked at checkout although sizes are not guaranteed.
Donations: Want to donate but not enter the events? Feel free to click on the DONATE tab and share this link with family and friends!
We appreciate any donation you can generously provide to help keep our kids and teachers enriched, supported and encouraged!
Shine on, Superstars!
STUDENT DROP-OFF & PICK-UP REMINDERS for DRIVING FAMILIES
If You Are Driving Your Student To School...
- You can park on any of the streets around Lincolnwood (unless there is a no parking sign or no parking on a specific day due to street cleaning) and walk your child to school (or have them walk on their own if they are ready to do this).
- You can "Kiss & Go" by pulling into the drop off line in the parking lot on Grant, driving up to the turnaround, stopping to drop off your child when it's your turn, and continuing around and out to drive west on Grant.
- Please only do this option if you and your child are comfortable with a very quick drop off in which you stay in the car while your child exits the car on their own or is assisted by Lincolnwood staff.
- Please do not do this option if you need to get out of your car or if waiting for your turn to drop will frustrate you. No matter how rushed you are, for both courtesy and safety, you cannot pull ahead of other cars in the "Kiss & Go" line.
- If your student is in the STEP program and will need staff support for school entry, please drop them off on Colfax (where our main entrance is). See our separate email to STEP families for more details.
- During drop off, even if spots are available, there is absolutely no parking for anyone but staff in the lot off of Grant. There is also no parking in the fire lane on the east side of the parking lot.
- Please plan to park in a legal spot on the streets surrounding Lincolnwood.
- If you have a K-2nd grade student, please leave enough time to park and walk over to the school to pick up your student by 3:35pm.
- If you have a 3rd-5th grade student and are comfortable with them walking to meet you at your car, please make sure that you have a consistent plan for where they can find you.
- The staff parking lot is not available for parent/caregiver parking after 3pm and the entry will typically be blocked with cones starting at this time.
- Please do not double park, park or idle on the north side of Grant or south side of Colfax next to the school, park in the fire lane of the parking lot, enter the parking lot through the exit, honk horns, or leave your car unattended and running.
RECESS VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY!
We are looking for parent/caregiver volunteers to help facilitate games and play (equipment is provided) at recess. If you are interested, sign up for one or multiple days HERE.
We are most interested in volunteers for Kindergarten and 1st grade but would welcome volunteers at other grade levels as well.
Volunteers must have limited or comprehensive status but comprehensive is encouraged and preferred (see below for more information on applying to be a D65 volunteer.
Once you sign up, we will reach out with more information!
