The Fowler Weekly
November 21-25
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Fowler Family,
It was nice to see parents in the halls as we kicked off our Partnership/Parent Conference days last Thursday. Please see below for more information on ways to access teachers tomorrow and Tuesday.
Because it is Thanksgiving week, I want to give thanks for the great family and community support we feel from our Fowler parents. We enjoy having your children in our school, and are fortunate to have such great partnerships with families.
I hope you all find time to play games, connect with your children, and have a little fun over this holiday weekend. I often have to coerce my kids to sit down at the table and play games like “Spoons” or Uno, but we have lots of laughs once we get going, and these years go by fast. Please look for windows to bond and connect, as these non-school days can be incredibly rewarding for students and families.
Be well,
Andy
HAPPENINGS
We will wrap up our Family Partnership Meetings tomorrow evening and Tuesday.
Tomorrow evening, November 21, from 4:30-7:30 pm and Tuesday morning, November 22, 7:30-11:30 am the meetings are in person and will be held arena style in the Commons and Gym. At arena style meetings 6th grade teachers will be available in the Commons, 7th and 8th grade teachers, as well as most elective teachers, will be set up in the Gym. There are a few exceptions which will be posted in the Commons. Teacher spaces will be labeled with signs to assist you in locating those you wish to see. We do encourage students to attend with their parents/guardians, but it is not required. We also recommend that you bring a list of your child’s teachers so that you know who to visit.
Arena style meetings are first come, first serve. We do ask that you limit your conversations to no longer than 10 minutes so that all families have the same opportunity to meet with teachers. If you find that you need more time, please set up a separate meeting time with the teacher.
The afternoon of Tuesday, November 22 meetings are by appointment only and in person. If you have a scheduled appointment, you will receive an email with details confirming the date and time the day before your meeting. This communication will also include the teacher’s google meet to use if you chose a virtual meeting.
Report Cards are ready. We do not send report cards home via mail. Please sign into ParentVue and StudentVue. You may access them under the “Documents” tab.
Documents Tab: It will be the document at the top and will be labeled Quarter 1 Report Card (22-23).
If you need assistance, or a hard copy, please contact Teresa Weitz, tweitz@ttsd.k12.or.us.
We gave out our first Fist Bumps of the year! A Fowler Fist Bump is used to recognize our students for their awesomeness! Because so many of them are, and we sometimes fail to take time to recognize that fact.
If your student is listed below, take a minute to ask your student what they were recognized for if they have not already shared that with you.
They were handed out during our Grade Level Assemblies this week:
6th Grade, Tuesday, November 15
7th Grade, Thursday, November 17
8th Grade, Friday, November 18
We gathered as many of the students that were recognized at each grade and took a picture. Not all students are listed.
Don’t forget to check out the Lost & Found mountain while you are here for conferences! The mountain has grown into quite an impressive pile! Clothing, lunchboxes, stuffed animals, backpacks, water bottles, shoes, etc., are placed in the Commons Lost & Found near the Courtyard doors. If the item is small, and particularly of value, it will be turned in to the Main Office. Items such as phones and airpods are labeled with the date and location they were found. If your child is missing something, please remind them of these two places to check for their lost items. The building will be open during the Family Partnership Meetings, this would be a perfect time to check out the pile yourself!
BASIC NEEDS
At Tigard-Tualatin we believe in supporting the whole child and family. We want to make sure that our families have the resources they need for students to learn and grow. The information on this questionnaire will help our school better meet the needs of our school community through identifying both those who need support and potential donors within our community.
Please fill out one per family and only apply to one school. We would appreciate that you only apply to the school where your youngest child attends.
If you are in need of assistance, please be sure to complete the form below no later than November 23.
As we collect basic needs information for our school, we would also like to share additional community resources that can support our families during this time. Here is a list of resources. We will continue to add resources to this document as we find them. If you have any questions, reach out to our Family Partnership Advocate, Ana Patlan Gutierrez, 503-431-5054.
PSO
It’s the PSO Fall Fundraiser! Did you know that the amount they are trying to raise is equivalent to $25 per child. Are you able to help? See below for more details.
