Superintendent's Update - 4.10.2026
Dear CPS Community,
I hope you all had a fantastic week and were able to enjoy some sunshine for a change!
This past week, April 6-10, was National Assistant Principals Week. Here in Chelmsford, we are incredibly fortunate to have some of the best assistant principals and high school deans around. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly to bolster teachers, motivate students, support their principals and create a positive learning community. Their contributions to our district have not gone unnoticed, so please join me in celebrating these amazing school leaders!
We will be holding another kindergarten registration day on Thursday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for families who have an incoming kindergarten student for the 2026-27 school year. If you were unable to attend the first two registration days in January, please be sure to sign up for an appointment. Also, if you know any friends, neighbors or colleagues who will be sending a child to kindergarten in our district this fall, I encourage you to share this information with them. Completing the registration process during these set dates provides us with accurate enrollment numbers to help plan for students prior to the beginning of the school year. For more information about registration, necessary documentation and contact information, please visit our website.
Next week is going to be a busy one in the district. Harrington Elementary School will be hosting its STEAM Fair beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13. Chelmsford High School juniors will be participating in the Career Exploration Breakfast on Tuesday morning, April 14. Parker Middle School’s Best Buddies will be taking on members of the Chelmsford Fire and Police Departments in a charity basketball game on Thursday, April 16, beginning at 6:00 p.m. We also have the School Committee’s reorganization meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and the Parker School Building Committee meeting on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out Aca-Pocalypse, featuring our very own a cappella groups, The Crescendos, The Thursdays, Parker Select and McMelody. There will be two evenings of performances, tonight at 7:00 p.m. and tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. in the Carl J. Rondina Performing Arts Center at CHS. The event will be emceed by Northeastern University’s award-winning a cappella ensemble Pitch, Please, who will also perform each night. Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased on the Association of Chelmsford A Cappella’s website. Also, if you want to get a head start on Mother’s Day gift shopping, stop by the CHS Class of 2027’s spring craft fair at McCarthy Middle School on Sunday, April 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There’s guaranteed to be something of interest for everyone!
Have a great weekend!
Yours truly,
Jay Lang, Ed.D.

Seeking Business Partnerships
Chelmsford High School is looking to expand its current partnerships to support the Innovation Pathways Program. Final requirements for this program require students to complete an industry-related capstone project or internship during the spring of their senior year in high-need employment areas such as business & finance, information technology, engineering, and life sciences. More information about our pathways can be found here.
If your business would like to be a part of this partnership, please reach out to Ms. DaSilva, the Career and College Facilitator, and Mr. Morris, the K12 Science Coordinator.
