A NEW MILK! A NEW MILK!

This year, students can enjoy chocolate milk made with 2% milk fat! It will still follow our lower-sugar program guidelines, so students get the chocolate milk they love with a little extra creaminess. Thanks to Stony Creek Dairy for working with us to find that balance between taste and balanced nutrition.

And don’t worry—we’re keeping the 1% white milk option, too! Students can continue to choose the milk they like best.

THE FIRST MINNESOTA THURSDAY IS THIS WEEK! THE FIRST MINNESOTA THURSDAY IS THIS WEEK!

Our Minnesota Thursday Initiative is back for year two. We're excited to continue this monthly, all-Minnesota meal that showcases the great farmers, ranchers, and food producers close to home. While we serve local foods [almost] daily this time of year, our Minnesota Thursdays go a bit above and beyond.

SLIDERS

- Elementary students will be served shredded chuck roast sliders.

- Middle + high school students will be served shredded beef brisket sliders.

Both the chuck roasts and smoked briskets are from Steve + Jamie Ries at Eden Valley Wagyu.

SWEET CORN

- A gorgeous bi-color corn grown just south of Hutchinson by the Tanata Family at Vine Valley Farm. We love when the sweet corn season cooperates with our school menus--what a treat!

WATERMELON

It's been a great melon season. We're so grateful to have the chance to celebrate these this month! These pink, seedless watermelon were grown in Clearwater.

SLAW

On your sandwich, on the side, or not at all -- students' choice! The crunchy cabbage and carrots were grown at Prairie Drifter Farm or Hutchinson's Farm to School Garden.

PICKLES

Our summer teams preserve the local abundance in July and August to feature things like house-made pickles on our menus. Pickling cucumbers were sourced from Vine Valley south of Hutchinson.

MILK

Each and every day we offer 1% regular and 2% chocolate milk on the milk machines. This milk is sourced from Stony Creek Dairy in Melrose.

You can see we're offering a slightly different and more age-appropriate meal for our elementary students. As always, students can sauce their sandwich to their liking and choose at least three of the offered meal components.

Thanks to our amazing kitchen teams for putting in a little extra care to make these ingredients stand out!
