📚 Friendly Reminder
We are noticing an increase in overdue library books. Please take a few minutes to check at home for any books that may belong to the school and return them as soon as possible.
Returning books helps ensure all students have access to our library resources. If a book has been lost or damaged, please contact the school so we can help find a solution. Thank you for your help in keeping our library stocked and ready for all students!
Tiger Talk with the Assistant Principal
Each semester everyone in the school participates in the Vocab Bowl and competes against schools in Kansas and across the nation. The Spring season ended on March 31st and we have some amazing results to report!
We were able to defend our title as state champs making us back to back winners for all schools in the state of Kansas and 6th in the nation for middle schools! Our first time breaking into the top 10!
Every time we compete, Mr. Alan challenges the students to succeed by putting something on the line. This season they were challenged with placing in the Top 50 schools in the nation. He agreed that if they were able to achieve that he would let the class that mastered the most words choose what color to dye his beard and moustache.
Votes were cast on Friday and the winning color will be revealed to the students during an all school assembly on Wednesday April 29th at 8:00 AM. Mr. Alan is going to wear a mask to school that day and the student that mastered the most words will get to pull it off in front of the whole school. We would like to invite families, to join us that morning to celebrate their success and witness the unveiling.

Elective Selection for 6th & 7th Grade Students
Students in 6th and 7th grade will be bringing home elective selection forms next week as we plan for the upcoming school year. These forms provide students with the opportunity to choose their preferred electives. Once students receive these forms, I will ask that they be completed and turned into me by Wednesday, May 6th.
Our JWMS Course Guide is attached to help you and your student learn more about the elective options available for your student’s grade level.
If you have any questions regarding the elective selection process, please feel free to reach out to me at payton.andrews@usd340.org.
