BHMS First Day Reminders!

As we begin the school year, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Please take a moment to read our updated Safety & Security Letter, review the Weapons System Overview Flyer, and watch the short video to learn more about the new procedures and how to talk with your child about these important changes. Your partnership is key to ensuring a safe and smooth start for all.

1. BHMS Drop & Walk Zone at the Agnes Scott parking lot at South McDonough Street & West Dougherty Street. Please utilize this lot to drop your students off. They can safely walk the remaining steps to school, crossing S. McDonough with the assistance of the crossing guard stationed at this corner. This is only to be used for AM drop-off. Please do not park in this lot.

2. Please DO NOT sit in the drop-off lane along the front of the school. This is designed to be a continuously moving line, with vehicles pausing to drop off students.

Thank you for your efforts to adapt your morning drop-off and make this plan a success! Together, we can get our kids to school safely and avoid frustrations for all.

Arrival and Dismissal

• Doors open to students at 8:30 a.m. Students eating breakfast will enter near the Bus Loop by the glass walkway at 8:20 a.m.

• First period starts at 8:45 a.m.

• Dismissal begins at 3:45 p.m. Students must vacate the building by 4:00 unless they participate in a teacher-led after-school activity.

• There will be no checkouts after 3:15 p.m.

School Supplies

As you prepare for the new school year, please don’t stress about having every item during the first week the basics are more than enough to start. Middle schoolers will carry their supplies throughout the day, so a stocked pencil case and organized backpack are key. Shared items like tissues or hand sanitizer only need to be sent in once—one contribution goes a long way.
