Order School Photos - Retake Day Oct 7
FOR STUDENTS ABSENT ON PICTURE DAY OR WANTING TO RETAKE THEIR ORIGINAL PHOTO:
Make-up photos will be taken on October 7th. Students may have their photo taken during a free period or lunch in the Auditorium lobby. Scholastic Reflections requests that students sign up in advance to participate in Retake Day.
Please complete this form to add your student to the list prior to October 6th. If it is a retake, have your student bring their student id with them just to show Scholastic Reflections. Students can keep them afterwards. Please ask your student to plan accordingly. Being late to class because they're getting their picture taken is not an excuse unless there is an extenuating circumstance. There will be a link to view and order the photos after the completion of picture retake day.
FOR THOSE STUDENTS THAT TOOK PICTURES ON THE ORIGINAL DATE (SEPT. 11)-REMEMBER THE LAST DATE TO ORDER PICTURES IS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5TH.
If you have any questions, please contact Jane Devine at jdevine@shorewood.k12.wi.us.
📣 October Advisory & School Updates
October’s Advisory theme is Belonging & Balance, with a focus on student wellness, academic readiness, and community support. Students will engage in Advisory check-ins, participate in a Mini-SEL lesson, complete the mySAEBRS survey to support social-emotional learning, and enjoy special events, including the Musical Preview and a School-Wide Recess, on October 30.
We also want to highlight some important October dates for families:
No School: Thursday, October 2, and Friday, October 17
Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences: Tuesday, October 14
In-Person Parent/Teacher Conferences: Thursday, October 16
PSAT Testing: Wednesday, October 29
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student growth and balance both in and out of the classroom.
Warm regards,
AP Jamerson
Please Give Thanks to our Teachers! 🎉
Caregiver/Teacher Conferences are coming up on October 14 (virtual) and October 17 (in-person), and our teachers will be putting in some long days!
To help keep them fueled, we’re providing easy grab-and-go dinners so they can move smoothly from teaching into conferences.
We’d love your support! With about 50 teachers on staff, we anticipate spending $8–$10 per teacher each evening. Monetary contributions are greatly appreciated.
Donations can be sent via Venmo to Emily Begel @Emily-Begel.
Thank you so much for helping us take care of our amazing teachers!
Shorewood High School Drama Presents - The Addams Family
SHOREWOOD DRAMA is thrilled to announce our 2025-2026 season! First up, and just in time for Halloween, we will present The Addams Family! It follows the adventures and mis-adventures of the eponymous family, as they come into contact with the Beinekes, a decidedly more conventional family. This opens them up to the wider, slightly less peculiar world in ways that are at once hilarious and poignant. Addams Family is a fun, silly, swinging, surprisingly heart-felt, and family-friendly homage to...well, families, strange and otherwise!
ADDAMS FAMILY runs October 23rd-25th @ 7PM, and October 25th @ 2PM. Tickets are $5 for Students & Seniors, $20 for Adults and can be purchased through the link below! Don't miss out on this spooky-silly send-up of the legendary Addams Family!
Attention Juniors & Seniors
If you are interested in taking a college course at either UW-Milwaukee through the Early College Credit Program (or another college) or Milwaukee Area Technical College through the Start College Now program, please see your counselor before October 1. You can pick up the application, and we can discuss all of the ins and outs of the process. October 1st is a strict deadline. You cannot turn in applications after this date.
Please stop in with any questions.
If you want to read more about the ECCP program, see this link:

For Start College Now, see this link:
AP Classes - AP Testing
Juniors and Seniors:
If you are NOT in an AP class, please disregard this information. If you are in an AP class, please keep reading.
At this point, you have ideally created (or gotten into) your AP account and joined various AP classes. Once you join a class, you have access to AP classroom, and you are automatically registered to take an AP test in May. If you decide to not take an AP test, just email me, and I can get you removed from taking the test.
You will also need to pay for each test by Friday, October 31st, 2025. The cost for each test is $105. You can pay at this website (everyone must sign up, even if you qualify for free and reduced lunch):
https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/502112
Should you not pay on the 31st, you will be charged a $40 late fee (per test) for any test you want to take after the deadline has passed (i.e. each test would cost $145). In addition, should you drop a test after the 31st, you would be assigned a $40 cancellation fee.
For all the ins and outs of AP testing and payment registration, please review this handout. See Mr. Brown with any questions.
SENIORS - 2026
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is projected to open on October 1, 2025. Many schools require that you and your caregivers fill this out soon after the 1st. Caregivers and you will enter in your income from the previous year, which will determine what kind of federal aid you can receive for college--in the form of work study, loans, or grants.
See this blog for some interesting updates:
For those interested in UW-Madison--new this year, you will need to fill out the CSS profile (only once, whereas FAFSA you fill out every year). I've linked that below as well:
https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/
Our next college workshop will be Wednesday, October 1 at lunch in the LMC South. Hope to see many of you in attendance.
Direct Admit Wisconsin
Seniors
Please be sure to check your Shorewood email. The vast majority of you should have received your Direct Admit offers for the Universities of Wisconsin. We did have technical issues, so it's possible that some of you have not received this email yet, but if you did get the confirmation email, please be sure to check to see what schools you were automatically admitted to within Wisconsin. The sender of the email is likely "Direct Admit WI."
It is imperative that you fill out the Direct Admit form as next steps if you plan to attend one of the universities in your list. We are happy to help with this if needed.
Congrats to everyone! And feel free to stop down to student support if you have additional questions.
