Attendance is Important!
Dear Families,
As we move into this busy time of year, we want to take a moment to remind everyone how important regular school attendance is to your child’s success. Every day in class helps your child build strong habits that support lifelong learning. Even a few missed days can make it harder for students to stay on track and feel connected to their classmates and teachers.
With Thanksgiving and winter breaks approaching, we ask that families plan travel and appointments outside of school days whenever possible. Consistent attendance before and after the holidays helps ensure that students don’t miss valuable instruction and classroom experiences.
Upcoming Breaks:
Fall Break: November 24-28th
Winter Break: December 22nd -January 7th
Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority!
Happy Veteran's Day!
Our 5th graders were featured in the local paper celebrating at the Loveland Veteran's Day parade! We also had a flag raising ceremony at the school and hosted a breakfast for our vets. Thank you to all that have served!

Art Contest!!
This is the creative team over at Loveland Opera Theatre and we need your help with designing our set for our new production of “Little Red’s Most Unusual Day”! We will be having an art contest and the winners will get their pictures in our large storybook set- remember 3 Little Pigs? Winners will be announced at the performance of “Little Red’s Most Unusual Day” which will be performed at your school this February. Please return your artwork to your art teacher by November 21st. Below you will find the scenes that we’re looking for to tell our story. We encourage you to incorporate things you see in Colorado in your drawings. All pictures are to fit within an 8x8 square. For each scene there are two pictures so for example if they choose scene one they would choose either the outside of the cabin OR the woods with flowers and trees outside the cabin. 8 pieces of artwork will be selected in total.
Little Red Scene Descriptions:
Title Page – A forest with a path going down the middle
Final Page – Forest Ranger Ball – be sure to include “The End” on this one!
Scene 1 – One page will be the front porch and outside of a cute/fairy tale cabin and the other will be the woods right outside; flowers and trees everywhere.
Scene 2 – Deep in the woods – lots of trees and vegetation on both pages. You could even include small animals if you want.
Scene 3 – One side will be the inside of Granny’s house (a one room cottage) and the other side will be the outside of her house.

ChildSafe Offering: Trauma-Informed Parenting Class
We will be holding a Trauma-Informed Parenting Class designed to support those parenting children who have experienced trauma or face attachment challenges.
This class takes a unique, relationship-based approach that will help caregivers understand how children escalate through behaviors and, more importantly, how to respond in ways that can foster emotional resilience for both children and caregivers. Through this course, caregivers will learn how to navigate stressful situations with greater emotional tolerance, which naturally leads to improved behavior and stronger bonds with their children.
Class Details:
Dates: Friday November 14th
Times: 9am - 4pm
Location: 2366 E. 1st St, Suite 266, Loveland, CO 80537
Cost: Free to all participants
Who Should Attend: Biological parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, and kinship-care providers
This class is designed to be especially beneficial for those who are caring for children with complex emotional needs. We invite you to share this opportunity with your network of caregivers, as we believe it can have a profound impact on their ability to support the children in their care.

Panorama Parent Notification/Opt Out Letter
October 16, 2025
Dear Edmondson Elementary School Families,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. Thompson School District values input from our community – and we need to hear from your child or children!
In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we ask students in grades 3–12 to participate in an online survey. The survey content asks students to self-reflect on emotion regulation, social awareness, growth mindset, perseverance, sense of belonging, school safety, and teacher–student relationships. Grades 3-5 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 6-12 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 3-5 Supports & Environments Survey, Grades 6-12 Supports & Environments Survey
Your child will be invited to participate in the full online survey during regular school hours during the weeks of October 27-November 14. When the survey is introduced, students will be invited to participate and informed that they do not have to answer any questions they do not wish to answer. The full survey should take no more than 20–30 minutes to complete.
In addition to this full survey, students will also have opportunities throughout the year to take shorter, more frequent surveys called Check-ins in January and April 2025. These Check-ins will take just a few minutes to complete and will use questions drawn from and aligned to the full survey. This will provide timely feedback on how students are feeling and engaging in their learning. The information gathered from Check-ins will help school staff provide more immediate and responsive support for students.
Student responses to both the full survey and Check-ins will follow our district’s expectations for maintaining confidentiality for your child. Our third-party vendor, Panorama, has signed the district’s Data Privacy Agreement to ensure all required online encryption protocols are followed.
Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the surveys or Check-ins by filling in your name and your child’s name below and returning it to school by October 24, 2025.
Sincerely,
John Berg, Principal

TSD Code of Conduct
The Board of Education believes that effective student discipline is a prerequisite for sound educational practice and productive learning. The objectives of disciplining any student must be to help the student develop self-discipline, responsibility, respect for self and others, and socially acceptable behavior.
All policies and procedures for handling student discipline shall be designed to achieve these broad objectives.
The Board, in accordance with applicable law, has adopted a written student conduct and discipline code based upon the principle that every student is expected to follow accepted rules of conduct and to show respect for and to obey persons in authority. The code also emphasizes that certain behavior, especially behavior that disrupts the classroom, is unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action. The code shall be enforced uniformly, fairly and consistently for all students.
Student discipline shall be carried out with dignity and empathy. To ensure equity in discipline, schools will strive to eliminate disproportionality in discipline, reduce exclusionary discipline, create a positive school climate and culture, and incorporate social emotional learning, shared decision-making, positive behavior interventions and supports, and restorative practices.
All Board-adopted policies and Board-approved regulations containing the letters "JK" in the file name constitute the discipline section of the legally required code.
The Board shall consult with administrators, teachers, parent/guardians, students and other members of the community in the development and review of the student conduct and discipline code.
The purpose of this resource is to outline student rights and responsibilities and provide the guidelines/rules which make up the "Discipline Code" for the Thompson School District. Policies covering information required by law to be communicated to students and parents/guardians are listed in this document. Questions concerning this document may be directed to individual building principals, the Directors of Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Student Success, or the district superintendent.
25-26 Free and Reduced Applications
Dear Parents/Guardians:
For the 2025/26 school year, the Thompson School District will provide access to no-cost meals for all students through the Healthy School Meals for All program.
Research shows students perform better at school when they are not hungry. By providing access to breakfast and lunch for all students at no cost, we better support their learning.
Although all students will receive access to no-cost meals, it’s still important for households to provide their income information when requested. Gathering this information allows the Thompson School District to receive the state and federal funding we qualify for. These funds go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals and support after-school activities and other nutritional programs for students. Plus, qualifying households may be eligible for Summer EBT benefits, receive discounted or waived school fees, class materials, utilities support, and more. Providing household income information ensures you and your school receive all available financial support. ***All household income information is confidential and will not be shared without your consent.***
The attachments contain more information on the free or reduced-price meal application and instructions on applying. While the following pages may reference eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals, access to breakfast and lunch will be provided free to all students regardless of household income.
Our school meals follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. You can be confident your children are getting quality school meals while saving your family time and money.
Use the link below to apply online, or you may pick up a paper application at any TSD school or the Support Services Center and return or mail it to 2890 North Monroe Avenue Loveland, CO 80538.
