Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we are excited to introduce a fun new incentive to celebrate great attendance across our school: The Monthly Attendance Challenge!
Each month, we will track class attendance across all grade levels. The classroom with the highest overall attendance wins our Traveling Attendance Banner to display proudly right outside their door for the entire following month!
Students should be on the lookout in the hallways to see who earned the August crown. We can’t wait to see which class takes home the banner for September!
How You Can Help at Home:
Build the Habit: Aim for consistent routines for bedtime and morning wake-up times.
Plan Ahead: Whenever possible, schedule doctor appointments or family travel outside of school hours.
Reach Out: If your student is facing challenges getting to school, please let us know—we are here to support you
Student Attendance/La Asistencia Estudiantil
Regular and consistent school attendance is so important for the success and well being of your student. Please help us boost our attendance this semester by making sure your student arrives at school ON TIME each day, and keep check outs to a minimum! Our school day begins at 7:30 and ends at 2:30 each day, and every minute counts!!
If your student is absent from school, please remember that you have THREE days to return a written excuse for the absence. Absences may be excused by a doctor, and parent notes may be written to cover five student absences per semester. Notes received after the three day period will not be excused. If your child accumulates three unexcused absences, you will receive a letter from the school. After five unexcused absences, you will be in violation of the attendace policy, and will be referred for a truancy hearing.
K-6 Tardy Policy
Regular school attendance is a priority at Weeden Elementary. Students are expected to be at school ON TIME each day, unless they are sick. Please note that learning begins promptly at 7:30 each morning and ends at 2:30 each afternoon. Students arriving at school after 7:35 a.m. are considered tardy. We will begin enforcing our tardy policy on Monday, August 17. Please review the chart below for the disciplinary progression for unexcused tardies.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
When possible, schedule vacations during designated school breaks to maximize instructional time and support student success!

Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to emphasize the importance of community, connection, and caring for one another. At the elementary level, suicide prevention starts with teaching our students how to build strong relationships, express their feelings safely, and practice kindness every day.
Bus Reminders/ Recordatorios del autobús
Pick up cards are required at all bus stops. If you do not have a card at the stop, your child will be brought back to school for pickup. If you do not have cards for your child, please come by the school office for assistance.
Please be at the bus stop ten minutes before drop off/ pick up to avoid missing the bus.
Children can be picked up any time after the regular 2:30 p.m. school dismissal; however, please refer to the bolded statement below. Parents/guardians are asked to pick up children by 5:55 p.m. and no later than 6:00 p.m.
All parents/guardians' information MUST be updated if any changes occur during the time children are attending WASP. Communication between parents/guardians and WASP staff is very important for the safety of children. So, if there are any changes in who will pick up a child it has to be updated on the initial WASP form and/or through REMIND from the parents/guardians.
We expect positive behavior from ALL WASP students. Each time a child has not exemplified good behavior parents/guardians will be notified. After three (3) notifications, the child will not be able to attend WASP for one (1) or two (2) weeks, dependent upon the behavior. He/she will be allowed to return after nonparticipation, but if there are any ongoing issues, the child will be permanently dismissed from WASP.
