September 2023
Dear Families,
September is here! We have had a great two weeks of school. Our students are beginning to get into a good school routine. Thank you for the support you are giving to them! We know they probably are coming home very tired each evening.
In this newsletter, you will find some important links, dates, and information that will be useful to you and help us all to get off to a great start! If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or to the office with any questions you may have.
Thank you,
Mrs. Propst, Principal (ejpropst@k12.wv.us)
Mr. Hovatter, Assistant Principal (phovatte@k12.wv.us)

Student Absences
*When your child is absent, there is no need to call the school. Please make sure you send a note with your student when he/she returns to school. Absence notes may be submitted electronically by following this link:
https://www.berkeleycountyschools.org/o/bcs/page/absencenote
It is very important to submit a note or send a note for your student.
Also, when your child is absent, calls are made district-wide to let parents/guardians know. If you know that your child is home, you do not need to call the school. It is a courtesy call for families and mainly is applicable to older students, but is a district-wide system. Those calls should be starting soon...
Guidance Information from Our Counselors, Mrs. Ransom & Miss Hampton
*As Rosemont's school counselors, we are here to assist students with their educational and emotional journeys. All students will participate in bi-weekly classroom guidance lessons. We are available for short-term individual/small group counseling on a referral basis, so please let us know if you have any particular concerns.
*Beginning September 11th, one student from each homeroom will be recognized for the week in our HIGH FLYING SUPERSTAR program. Each SUPERSTAR will receive a pencil, a SUPERSTAR necklace, and a letter inviting his or her parents to celebrate with them on Fridays during lunchtime.
*Shoe vouchers, clothing vouchers, and applications for Kidz Power Packs (a weekly bag of non-perishable food items) are available through the Guidance office. Call or e-mail us for more information.
*Remember it is best for students to arrive by 8:20am to have time to eat breakfast, unpack book bags, and get settled in for the day.
*Olweus Bullying Prevention Week is coming up September 18 -22. BCS has planned an event for September 21. Please see the flyer below. More information will be coming from the school level soon.
