Dear District 67 Families:
I want to take a moment to highlight an important event that is fast approaching next week – Principal Appreciation Week (October 15-21)!
Principal Appreciation Week is a special time dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the invaluable contributions of our school principals. These dedicated educators are not only the leaders of our schools but also play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of our students. They inspire, motivate, and guide both students and teachers, fostering an environment where learning thrives and excellence is achieved.
During Principal Appreciation Week, we encourage you to take a moment to show your gratitude and support for our school principals. Whether it's a simple thank-you note, a kind gesture, or a message of appreciation, your recognition goes a long way in recognizing the hard work and dedication that our principals put into their roles.
If you would like to send a shout-out to any of our principals in Districts 67 or 115, please fill out the survey below!
Sincerely,
Matthew L. Montgomery, Ph.D.
Superintendent

Anaphylaxis Survey
Message for parents:
The goal of Districts 67 & 115 Anaphylaxis and Food Allergies Response Plan Committee is to develop a comprehensive school plan which includes a safe educational environment for students with food allergies, to develop clear procedures if anaphylaxis occurs, and to provide awareness to all stakeholders. The Anaphylaxis and Food Allergies Response Plan has been created with the objective of striking a balance between the right and convenience of all students to eat what they like, and the allergic child’s right to relative health, safety, and social normalcy in the school setting. It has been 6 weeks since we implemented the new daily snack list and we would like to gather feedback from multiple stakeholders to serve as a resource for determining next steps. Please complete this survey for each child in your home in grades early childhood-through 8th grade. This survey will remain open until October 16th at 5:00 PM.
E-Scooters and Bikes Must Be Walked in the Central Business District
Lake Forest City Council recently approved an ordinance prohibiting the use of recreational powered devices (electric scooters, electric bikes, etc.) on sidewalks in the Central Business District.
Riders must dismount and walk their devices within the Central Business District boundaries. Violators will be fined $100-300 per offense. The Lake Forest Police Department is issuing warnings this fall as a courtesy, while people adjust to the new regulation. Officers will begin issuing tickets in spring 2024. Learn more.
Thank You to our 2023 Curriculum Coordinating Committee
We would like to welcome our 2023 Parent/Guardian Committee Members: John Malloy, Mallory Boyens, and Lauren Fairchild.
Committee Purpose: An important perspective to bring to our District work is through our parents. One of the ways we seek parent involvement is through the Curriculum Coordinating Committee. It is composed of teachers, administrators, and parents, thus representing multiple perspectives about the work we do for our students. The purpose of this committee includes, yet may not be limited to:
- Consider plans for curriculum review/evaluation
- Receive input regarding curriculum-related matters
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the administration and Board of Education
Our sincere appreciation goes out to all community members who applied to participate on this committee.
