SUPERINTENDENTS UPDATE

Hello Egg Harbor Township School District-

June is here and the 2022-23 school year concludes on June 21st. Teachers worked hard to educate their students while looking to meet district goals. We experienced a great school year with much to be proud of from Preschool to 12th grade. We will celebrate 8th graders moving up to our high school this week; our commencement ceremony for graduating seniors is slated for June 21 at 5:10pm.

Summer programming will begin on July 5th and includes the programs for Extended School Year, ELL Ready, EHT Ready, Chinese School, Young Engineers, and Aviation CTE. Please be sure to check your child’s school website for more information pertaining to these programs. Practices for athletic teams will occur throughout the summer with some teams holding camps and clinics for interested community kids. All of these scheduled programs are to prepare students for the 2023-24 school year.

The district will be conducting HVAC projects; the high school will be closed and will not be able to hold any programs or practices until at least mid August. The administration and staff will be located at the Fernwood Avenue Middle School.

On behalf of the Board of Education, administration, teachers, and staff, I hope that you enjoy the last few days of school and have a peaceful and restful summer! It was a pleasure to embrace, engage, and educate the children of the Egg Harbor Township School District! As your superintendent, I am proud to serve and look forward to more great things to come!

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our students have the resources and support to achieve success both inside and outside of our classrooms. This responsibility is the catalyst to commit ourselves to using student data and ensuring a framework for teaching and learning centered around the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). MTSS allows us to look at individual students and meet them where they are, set goals to have students progress towards or continue to exceed grade-level expectations. We have additional school personnel to assist in both intervening and enriching our students, so we can continue to build on each individual’s strengths for true achievement. Student data will be collected and analyzed by teachers in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) where teachers meet to discuss and develop collaborative strategies to assist with student achievement. We are proud that our PLCs are now not only once a month before or after school, but embedded in the building schedules to allow more time for collaboration and analysis. We are committed to providing Literacy for ALL, grounding instruction and professional learning around the Science of Reading and research-based best practices. We will continue providing students with innovative opportunities in the area of STREAM education; including the advancement of Aviation, and additional opportunities for real-world career exploration. We will continue to have a strong focus on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) as we Embrace our students and families and all that they have endured over the past two years. Without SEL, we cannot improve student learning or have a school climate that engages our students. As a school district, we are dedicated to building relationships with students and their families, to take the time to listen to and recognize their needs and concerns, to work to identify potential barriers for growth, to provide resources to assist students academically, socially and emotionally, and to create a school culture that is inclusive and welcoming, a place where every child wants to be each and every day.

CLIMATE, CULTURE & #EHTPride CLIMATE, CULTURE & #EHTPride

We are dedicated to learning together, growing together, and healing together within a positive school climate. Celebrations of recognition and reward for achievement, even the littlest steps, will occur in all of our schools as we value the importance of appreciation and respect. We have a lot of #EHTPride in taking care of our students and showcasing their achievements.

We are committed to setting a foundation of culture in our school that includes respect for diversity, inclusion and equity for ALL students and staff. To empower our school community to be positive, supportive, patient, and understanding. To unify all members around one central goal that includes nurturing a strong culture that allows students, teachers, staff, and community members to flourish as individuals and as a community.

With Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. Together, we can achieve more!
